It's been awhile since I was active here. I bowed out for a time to make sure my graduate history program got a successful launch. Now that I've got some spare time again, I thought I would drop in and say hi.

If you do smell bacon it's because my buddy and I cooked up a pound of it this morning.
Welcome back. I'm Rei. I'm just sort of around.

I've tied a rope to my leg this time, so if I get lost you can drag me back.

*puts hand on Resha's shoulder* There is always bacon here when you most need it. Welcome home.

And a soft pillow?

... OK, I don't mean that I would eat the pillow. I would eat the bacon and sleep on the pillow ...

... OK, I don't try to eat bacon while I'm lying on a pillow ...

... sigh

Hello and welcome back home. I'm one of the newbies who moved in during your absence.

Actually, eating bacon while lying on a pillow sounds fantastic to me. I've never tried it, though, so I can't be sure it's not just the combination of two amazing things that makes me think that.

Can I get a brief intro to who you are? Always fun to meet new writers. :D

Areth,

Ka

Hi.

Yeah, that can go bad. For example, I like baseball and playing guitar. But trying to play the guitar while stealing second base would be a bad idea.

Sorry. I didn't see this post until it was past it's expiration date ... sorta like that cheese in the back of the fridge I shouldn't have eaten. OK, I'm not saying you're like moldy cheese ... wow, communicating can be really hard.

A brief intro? Hmm. That's always tough. I have very eclectic tastes that spill over into my writing. I don't write a specific genre, but because weird things creep in from time to time I was kicked out of the literary fiction club, and this is the only place that would take me.

Despite the wide variety of stories I've written, I really only have 3 characters (and their supporting casts). There is Ben Kiegan (my SF-like dude) whom I invented at the age of 13 because I loved Star Wars. But after people read his story and said, "It's just like Star Wars," I decided I had to invent a whole new genre of writing just for Ben and I've been at it ever since. Then there is Gawain, whom I use to relate my experiences as an engineer (that's how I put food on the table). Finally there is Martin Volker, who is my alternative history guy. And, in a weird way I have trouble explaining, all 3 of them are me and they're all part of one story.

Oh, wait. I forgot about Xavier Brown. He's the really creepy odd duck I dig out of the ground when I'm in a very strange mood and don't intend to write anything serious - though strangely enough some of his stories have been published.

Is that enough to scare you?

That's a good idea. ;) We should make that standard for HWers, that way we can keep track of busy people....

Creepy old ducks are okay in my book. That is, my metaphorical one, not my literal one.

 But they wouldn't be out of place in your literal one, either. You could pull that off.

Welcome back, Resha! I remember you mostly from the Historical Fiction forum right? :D Fun times. Nice to see you again.

:book: I too didn't see your reply until it had well passed it's expiration date. Not that it has died or expired or whatever, but just, you know, playing off of what you said... :P

Awesome! Nice to meet you. Those characters sound pretty much awesome, and I love that you aren't bound by genre and all that...
Is there anywhere I could see your books/stories that have been published? I don't make any promises because I haven't been able to read much of anything recently, but I'd like to check them out at the least.
That's pretty sweet that you're able to put food on the table with your writing. If the chance comes up I'd love to hear more about how you got to that place, because although I have decided to go into editing, I still would love to publish some of my own stories at some point.

Hmmm, I'm not scared yet, but perhaps time will tell, eh?

Areth,

Ka
