When children gallivant around the neighborhood on their bicycles and shrieking laughter can be heard near the local pool. The time where the sun hangs in the sky until the thread is slowly lowered into night.

It's also the time of year where people attend camps, and someone needs to serve the customers! :D Yes, I will be off to work at a Cub Scout camp for the seventh summer in a row. I will be moving into Staff City in the evening of June 17th and will be employed until August 1st. At camp, the staff work hard to please our young (and old) customers with a satisfactory camp experience. We pull 16 hour days, 6 days a week. (We have Sunday late-afternoon to Monday night off).

I will not be able to get on Holy Worlds as often (I'll probably check in), but I should be able to get on longer when we have day camps. If it's an overnight camp we stay with the campers until 10PM, so after our showers we're pretty exhausted.

I pray for all of us that we would not be passive in our faith this summer and that we would continue seeking the Lord in all our busy-ness. ^^

Blessings to you all!

~Calen

Be careful of your thoughts; guard your mind, for your thoughts become words. Be guarded when you speak, for your words turn into action. Watch what you do, for your actions will become habits. Be wary of your habits, for they become your character. Pray over your character; strive to mold it to the image of Christ, because your character will shape your destiny.

Ideas can germinate from the smallest seeds. Collect those seeds, and let them grow in the back of your mind. You may be surprised by what finally blooms.

When God takes something from your grasp, he's not punishing you. Instead, He’s opening your hands to receive something better. The will of God will never take you where the Grace of God will not protect you.

Thanks, everyone!

Here's an update on my life:

Camp is going well. We had a LOT of problems (everything that could go wrong did go wrong) but in the end we were able to complete our staff training and carry on with our work. We had our first day camp on Saturday where 174 Cub Scouts alone came out to shoot BB gun, archery, go swimming, throw tomahawk, and visit the Trading Post (the camp store where I work). It's been really stressful week, but this week should be better...I hope. :D I've got a lot of spreadsheets and signs to make for the Trading Post before I got back to camp tonight, so I must end it here.

Until next time!

Thank you so much for your prayers!

Update:

Things have been looking up. ^^ I get along well with everyone on staff and they with me. There's another girl on staff too! I'm no longer the only one, and not only that we're good friends to start off with. :D

I've been busy working on my crocheting and finished two elephants and two giraffes which I was commission for by my co-worker. Now I have to make a cup cake bear for her son and I'll be free to work on stock for my Etsy shop (which I haven't opened yet. :P)

I hope you all are having pleasant summers!

Miss you all!

~Calen

I almost forgot to update. I am officially back on Holy Worlds. :D

I had a really unique summer, but I learned a lot of valuable lessons: like learning how to cope with stress while working against a time crunch, working with many personalities, patience, and self-discipline.

I'd also like to share a PTL (Praise the Lord) with you guys:

During camp, my supervisor, Barb, at my office job, told me we could talk about my hours for the rest of the summer and my school year. She was very willing to work around my schedule. :) I would start the work week after camp ended.

Camp ended on August 1st. Interestingly enough, another co-worker from the office, Holly, called and told me about a new job opportunity. Her husband is the CEO of an Electrical Workers Union in the same city my office job is. He had called Holly wondering if I was interested in a new job. It consisted of the same duties I perform at my office job, but it pays more and it's closer to the town I live in by almost 10 miles. I told Holly I would think (and pray) on it.

Two days after I had come home, on August 3rd (Friday), I received a phone call from Barb. She explained that she had to let me go. The big boss wanted a "full-timer" to fill my position instead of having me there. I felt it coming, but was shocked nonetheless. I kept reassuring Barb I was going to be okay, that God had a plan for me. He has always provided.

The tears didn't come until later. I had been a part of that office family for the past 5 1/2 years and I felt like that rug had just been ripped up from beneath my feet. I took heart and still trusted God to handle everything. I gave Holly's husband, Derek, a call and left a message. Only to find that she gave me her cell number instead of his, so I called again on Monday. That same Monday, Derek called me back and I went in for an interview. It went really well. :D I was hired and my first day is next Monday! I've got a couple hours of training tomorrow afternoon and then I'm set!

Anyhoo, that's that and I'm glad to be back!

~Calen

P.S. I joined the Sci-fi forum too this summer!
