It's temporary because of the site revamp, I think.
I've never seen the YWP site, so I wouldn't know. I imagine they don't have nearly the traffic though, so they don't have half the problems.

Well, I think I know what I'll be writing.

Let's just say that this picture was inspired by it. ;)

It's an allegory thingamajiggie.
God bless,

You will let Twin read as you write, yes? :dieshappy: I'm so curious! :D

I'm thinking about posting mine as I go along... trying to decide if that's a good idea or not. :)

I did that last year and it was fun. This year, since it's a short story series, I might just post the occasional story.

*sighs and pretends to wait patiently*

Oh yes! I read Katie's CoL as she wrote it last year, and it was very fun for both of us, I think. I was dying for more material which helped her keep writing. ;)

Depending on how insane I feel, it may be finished in two weeks (in November, of course :P) or so. I can write like a lunatic sometimes (my max is 28,000, I believe, in one week. Would be nice to beat that).

*nods* NaNo is a great time to push your own personal limits. I haven't decided yet whether I will write Cogs slow or fast; it depends on what other projects I have going.

I think the fastest I've ever written was Third Earth, which I did in two weeks flat. Not sure how many words that was though. *is now curious*

I'm not sure how this outlining thing is going to work out, but I think I'm at least halfway done now.

And quotes:

Quote:
"Of course no one knows time travel is possible. You know what would happen if they did? I hate traffic enough without everyone and their brother clogging up the highways of time as well, just because they want to deliver that smart aleck comment they came up with two days after an argument. Everybody thinks they can change time, but you really can't. There's one reality, and that's what you have to live, whether you like it or not."
"So why do you bother going back [in time]?"
"I enjoy the sheer horror of watching helplessly as thousands die and knowing you can't do a thing. It helps your perspective."

Quote:
"Respect? Of course I respect people of high standing! I treat them just like I do everyone else. What they don't tell you, even if they've realized it, is that it's very lonely to be treated like you're different from everyone else."

Those are epic quotes! Was I supposed to share some quotes of mine?

I'm feeling nervous about my NaNo. I'm wondering if it's too structured, and the rigidness of needing to follow the plot and write it well might backfire. Not sure yet. I don't trust myself to make serious decisions today. :P

Arias, I really want to read your novel when you're done with it.

Me, I'm just focusing on everything but Nanowrimo, 'cause I'm afraid if I think about my story too hard it'll fly away.

I know, which is why it might be better to have a novel I'm not worried about writing well... Not sure yet, though. :)

I have a big praise to God regarding NaNoWriMo. :D Today my best friend and I talked, and we pretty much solidified my idea. I feel ready to write it.

In short: Pilgrim's Progress Meets Halloween. ;)

Stay tuned!
God bless,

At the moment, I feel about 40 percent ready. I still have a lot to do, and no idea how to manage full materiel bible quizzing and NaNo. Long and short, I'm feeling a tad overwhelmed. :P

To be clear: It's Pilgrim's Progress Meets Halloween in the sense that's it an allegory, not that it's a Halloweenish retelling of Pilgrim's Progress. :P

I was thinking the same thing. My story looks so bland as an outline, and I don't know how well I'll follow it.

Give it a shot, Mae! It's okay to try and fail. Anything you get written is progress.

Okay. :D Here's a few quotes from Cogs I had saved...

Quote:
“Are you sure you don’t want to eat with the master?”
“He even eats?”
“Don’t you?” Geraldine gestured at the tea with her metallic hand. “Don’t all humans eat?” She gazed up at Anelle, pixilated eyes flickering.
Anelle contemplated the bubbles swirling through her tea. “I wouldn’t call him a normal human.”

Quote:
“I don’t have to love him. I just have to marry him.”

I'm doing it. I use the ywp site, though, because I don't know if the story has 50k words in it. Last year I only squeezed 20k out of it, which was about the goal I set.
There isn't really a plan for the story yet, at least, nothing detailed. I know where it's set and I know what the problem is. I also know how it ends. It's a part of the same series as my last NaNo novel, ut those get written in November and set aside until I've written the full series. Then I'll edit (they all stand alone, kind of). Besides, I have something else to write during the rest of the year, in my main world.
But I'm definately going for it.

I'm getting really excited... Our writing club at school meets every Wednesday to plot. It's great.

I hath been cajoled into joining NaNo.

I've been informed that I'm a... "NaNo Rebel" since my plan is to either work on at least two short stories in order to add up to 50k words or count every word that goes into a writerish project in order to add up to 50k (I haven't decided which yet). I don't believe I'll make it (I didn't even plan on doing this til today ), but I want to see how far I get. :D

I have by no means figured out the site (recently I've found it hard to navigate any site other than HW :P ) so don't expect much of anything from me over the next few days (though I'm not entirely certain what is expected of me :P (likes his HW)).

(Hmm... What else should I put in here... Ah!) My name over there is TheLeprechaunKing (no surprise there ;))

I meant to post here a while ago, but apparently I never did. My username is Throndor over there. I kind of don't expect to finish this time, because I intend to take extra care to get my characters to actually act like they should, which will slow me down. But I decided I should try, anyway, since it's still probably more effective than if I don't try. :)

Ahhhhh! Two days till NaNo! *Runs around slightly crazy*

If you haven't already noticed, I'm going slightly crazy. :P I don't think I'll really be active on the NaNo site. I just don't have the time.

Yes.

Yes... Yes... Yes... Not really (there is Thanksgiving, the HW convention, my birthday, and keeping up on HW to do this month). No (I fully expect not to make 50k, I'm even doubtful that I'll finish one of the short stories. I just want to see how far I can get. :D)

Yes. I'll probably post excerpts (if I find any good ones ).

Don't freak out, Mae! Just take a deep breath. :D I know what you mean - I don't know how anyone can keep up with the NaNo site while maintaining their word count! It's huge! Looks like it has a lot of good resources, though.

Sounds good to me, Mark. ;)

Today I went to my NaNo regional group's kick-off party. I've never really been to a writing group before, so it was a good experience. I'm really excited about this coming month! :)

*Chuckles* I like, Vanya! ;)

I think I have persuaded my sister (SpiritOfTheSky) to join Nano, even though I'm not planning to myself. I know she definitely signed up.

The times I see posts like Hurricane's last one are the times I wish HW had a "Like" button. :D

I'm getting slightly nervous, after all there are only 13 hours left for me. (I'm in the eastern US time zone, in case anyone was wondering. :) )

I should probably finish my Character Questionnaires, but that's not absolutely necessary.
