Dasige

Dasige are large bats. They are black and have orange coloured eyes. They have razor like teeth, and sharp claws. They eat small mammals and sometimes bugs. They live in deep caves up in the mountains. No Dasige has ever been known to attack a man, rather they avoid them. They only come out at night.

Nayinya

The Nayinya is the brightest star in Tevo. It is the only star that moves, never remaining still it constantly moves very slowly. Although it never strays far from Niba, and many say that it is the Spirit of the wise King of old, unable to rest, watching over his people.

That's a nice legend about the star. What color is it?

Thanks. How would you pronounce Dasige from how I've spelled it, Jon? I'm trying to work out if it has the right sound. :)

The colour of Nainya is aqua blue.

I pronounced Dasige "Dah Seej". Is that the right way?

I'm going to add Water Faeries to this thread next, I think. It's too late now though. I'm off to bed. :)

I pronounced Dasige to myself da-seeg. I hope that does not cause any trouble.

It's supposed to be with a G sounding, Tsahraf, but if someone pronounces it with a J I'm not overly concerned, as it's quite similar.

Water Faeries

Water Faeries very seldom venture out in the daytime. At this time they hide under rocks or plants in the streams and lakes. In the daytime the look like tiny balls of flame, they move very fast so if you saw one you might mistake it for a glint of sunlight. At night they appear in reams, the lakes and river come alive with water faeries. Whilst in the water they roll themselves up into tiny balls to protect their feathered, delicate wings. The water is their home, but they can venture away from it. When out of the water they transform into a magnificent golden colour; they glow brighter and brighter. Their wings are delicate, almost see through but they shine many different colours; purple, gold, green, red, blue and pink. People say that if you touch a water faerie it will bring you luck, but they are so fast very few people manage to get too near any of them. They will flutter near you but the moment you reach out your hand, they are gone in a flash.

They sound neat. :D

How does rolling up in a ball protect their wings, since their wings are on their backs? And how do they move around in the water if they're rolled up in a ball?

For the first, they roll over and over into a tiny ball; this means that even though their wings are on their backs they're protected because of the tightness of the ball. Would that work and make sense do you think?
For the second question, I am not sure so will work on that. :P They're almost like shooting stars they can move that fast in water, but I guess they would have to have some sort of feature so they can do that. Hmmmm. *Will think some more and come back to this* :)

I'm not sure how that would work... Their bodies would have to be very contorted, though it's certainly possible in fantasy. ;)

Perhaps they could send out sparks of light that propel them?

That is a neat idea, Jon. I like it a lot, thanks!

And the wings, what if because they are water faeries their wings are not harmed at all by the water. That would make most sense, I think.
