I'm getting ready to fractal a character for a teamwork challenge I'm doing on CM. I probably won't do part of the steps, though.
I also sent one of my NaNo characters through it, but I think I skipped part of it that time as well.

Actually, because I'm a debater and because of my personality, I find the question-answer format to be very simple and powerful.

The only hard part might be the personality profiling. (section 2) Myers-Briggs is complicated...and the "love languages" idea is pretty foreign to a lot of people.

Redemption is to be purchased, to have a price paid. So I was redeemed from my master sin, and from justice, which demanded my death. For He paid the price of sin by becoming sin, and met the demands of justice by dying for us.

For all men have a master. But a man cannot have two masters. For he will love one and hate the other. You cannot serve God and sin. So I die to the old, as He died, and I am resurrected to the new, as He was resurrected.

Note: Ebed is Hebrew for bondsman, Eleutheros is Greek for unrestrained (not a slave).

Agreed. I still haven't been able to get my hands on that book about love languages (so I just made educated guesses, sort of), and it took some research online before I felt I could confidently answer the Myers-Briggs part.

I had to use Google for love languages, and an online Bryers-Migg quiz.

I've just decided I'm going to fractal a few characters from a non-fantasy book through this, just to help me out =)

And I also wanted to make the topic unread so that newbies would be sure to see it....

Wow Jay! AMAZING! I didn't read all of it fully but of what I did see was very complex and smart! Thanks!

I put two characters through it, and suddenly discovered that due to an unexpected weakness, I now have no solution to my novel's problem. Asheesh is also very deep. He used to be rather boring. In any case, it's a good thing we're world-building, because I haven't a clue who will get rid of the villain.
It's a great system, especially for those of us who have trouble figuring out a caracter's personality, and is reduced to one shy person, one anti-social person, one distrustful person, one optimist, and one oblivious goof. Or something like that. All of a sudden, I have not a quiet guy, but a thinker with a great mind for strategy and plenty of wit that he very wisely keeps to himself. I love it. When you concentrate, it doesn't even take that long.

* grins * That's what I love so much about this system. It doesn't just make your story have deep, grabbing, real characters, it revolutionizes your plot and setting as well. :)

Jay, would you mind writing up that step in the original post or directing me to an updated version of the CFS? I'm sending the CFS to my OYAN teacher to pass on to my classmates and I'd like to see that step you revised expounded and explained like the others. :D

That is a very cool character developing system. :D When I have some characters (I haven't really started on that yet) I'll put them to the test! :D Or, at least, most of the test. ;)

I finished my first MC! :D I ended up with 7 pages about Abby. Not as long as some people, but I still think it's pretty good. I now have a deep character who I can't wait to write about! *Awaits eagerly for NaNoWriMo* I decided I am not going to write a story about someone till I have fractulated them. It was so helpful! :D Thanks times a million for developing this system, Emeth! :D Now to start working on Grace!

I've got one character that I'm putting through the system and one that I'm considering putting through the system. :D

I hope to finish the one I've started in... a few months. :P

Haha, the term we've officially canonized is fractalling, fractalled, etc. Fractulated sounds like you broke something. :D But it is fun to say...

I'm going to be putting my MC for NaNoWriMo through this in the next few days, so I'm excited about that. :)

In putting my second MC for NaNo through the system, I found that Grace has the same personality type as me. How interesting is that! :D I think that will help me write Grace as a very deep character since I can understand her personality to a good extent. :D

*laughs* Fractulated is fun to say, but I will try to be proper and fractalled instead. :D

Amazing. Incredible. Brilliant!

Talk about a great system. I only skimmed through the steps and I loved it. I'll definitely be applying that to the characters in my next series.

I've only done the first few stages of this with one of my new characters, and I already feel like I know so much more about him. I'm really excited, I have always struggled with feeling that my characters don't feel individual enough, but this is really going to help me develop them!

It's startling how well it helps with getting to know characters...the funny thing is, I only just discovered that. I never even had the patience to put a character through it til a short while ago. * laughs * I'm glad it's helping you!

*Nods* Well, it looks quite complicated at first glance, so that's why I haven't done it up to now. I thought it would take ages to work through, but it really doesn't! :)

It's rather addicting. ;) :D If I read another HWer's fractal, I then have a burning desire to go work on my characters. :)

I've only done the first few stages of this with one of my new characters, and I already feel like I know so much more about him. I'm really excited, I have always struggled with feeling that my characters don't feel individual enough, but this is really going to help me develop them!

Same here, Elanor! It has been amazing!

I can't wait to get started on mine!

Since we have so many people writing novels for NaNoWriMo, I have decided that the next round of Character Fractalling will start in December. If you are interested or want to know more about it, please pm me and I will answer your questions as best I can. If you already know you want to join in on either the slow team, or the fast team, please pm me and I will add you to the list. Thank you!
