Copied from a friend's thread on the OYAN forum. It can be filled out with writing, photography, or art. It's definitely not a project for the weak-willed. :P I'm more than 3/4 done with filling out the emotions list with a great variety of writing ranging from a seven-word original quote to epic ballads and a 3,100 word short story. I will post it on my blog in multiple parts when I'm done.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

OK, so there's this thing going around deviantART called the 100 Theme Challenge. I have no idea who started it, but it became a site wide phenomenon. People have been copying it and making their own versions of it all over the site. Someone made a club specifically for written themes. And now I shall pass it on to you. What you do is, with each theme, you write either a short story or a poem or whatever, and it's based on that theme. Many have tried to complete all 100 but few to none have succeeded. I offer you this challenge. I have two lists to choose from.

The original list would make an epic 100 chapter book, would it not? Looks like a mind-blowingly complex sci-fi fantasy to me...

Yah. It's a portal science fiction with shades of Myst. The fantasy element comes from the worlds they visit beyond the portal. They are two factions racing to complete the technology. There are good guys and bad guys and good guys working for the bad guys and bad guys working for the good guys.

And it also sounds like a musical suite. A symphony or something.

Blimey. That's the only word I can think of to describe it. I might try a 100 chapter SF/fantasy cross series for this one.

I am taking the challenge as well. :D I'll definitely need some support and things as I go. I'm doing the 100 chapter novel, possibly science fiction.

Brilliant idea...

I'm going to take the emotions list and make a series of one page websites with it, each one featuring a story or an image integrated with the site.

I might do the NaNoWriMo with the original list... maybe...

So I'm not the only person who thinks the only way for them to get through this is NaNo? Nice to know. I've learned my lesson, though: this year, tons of planning. I will know exactly what I should be writing each day. XD

I'll probably be doing it for Nano. But I've already started it, so. . .

I might do this for NaNo as well, assuming I'll have time amongst my Team PYP doings.

I am doing this! Sounds like lots of fun, and great inspiration. Just one question: do have to do them in order, or can we mix them up as the inspiration comes?

@Laura - I find inspiration comes much more steadily if you do them in order.

And, I have news! I have completely finished my outline and BOY AM I EXCITED. :D You can tell because I just used all caps. ;) *bounces happily* I've devoted October completely to planning. I pansted last NaNo and failed miserably. Not so this year!

I'm going to use the emotions list to write a series of short scenes for my story, that may or may not make it into the actual book... should be interesting. :D

Thanks for posting, Luke!

I'm doing what Abby is--basically using the list to inspire me about my character's voices, the flow, the setting, general scenes, dialogue, bits and pieces. So far, it's been great motivation to actually write something!
