I was reading Psalm 17 and thought it would be a good theme for how God can help my heroes who call on Him without necessarily God "coming out of the machine" and wiping out all the bad guys.

verse 6 "I have called upon you, for You will hear me, O God...

verse 7 "...O You who save those who trust in You from those who rise up (against them)"

God allows evil men to become mighty so that He can be seen as more glorious, so in my story, I can follow the 3 Act structure by, as they say, putting my character up in a tree in act 1, then in act 2 throwing rocks at him, and in act three getting him down. Versar's Empire on Kitane will become seemingly insurmountable before God will crush it or at least "save those who put their trust in the Lord from those who rise up."

I don't have to have a Messiah mentioned to have people trust in God to deliver them; the Messiah is the ultimate expression of this truth.

Timotheus, it's a fantasy world. It doesn't have to sound plausible. :)

That does sound like a reasonable explanation to me, however.
