I hope this is the right place to put this. My apologies if it isn't. Feel free to move it.

Well, my family is moving. Into a bus.

As some of you probably know, my family is a band. We've got our house under contract, we've got our bus, and will probably be ready to hit the road sometime in early 2012.

It occurred to me that, since my sister and I might go with self-publishing (I'm still not decided on it, though. That's God's decision.), being on the road could open up opportunities to promote our books. Or not. The only problem is, I have absolutely no idea how.

Do any of you more experienced-types have any ideas or suggestions?

Thanks. ^.^

Does your family do concerts 'n things? Do you have a table after these with information, CDs, etc? You could include your books there!

That's a very good idea, RedWing, though since I don't have any ideas at the moment of how you could put into action, I'm afraid I'm not much help.

Thanks for the response, guys. :D

Yes, we do have a table - and while I imagine I could probably put my books for sale for some of them, I couldn't for all of them. This is for two reasons. One, we play folk/bluegrass, so they're not as likely to want to buy Fantasy. Not saying it's impossible, though. And two: we play at a lot of conservative places where some people would not approve of Fantasy. Especially ones with magic in them. (Even though the "magic" in my story isn't actually magic. It's an alternate science.)

So I guess a better question then the one before, to start, would be: How does one go about promoting a book, regardless of mobility? How have those of you, who have self-published, promoted? Or, if you haven't been published, do you have any ideas?

Then I'll try to adapt them...

I'm preparing to self-publish my first book, and most of my promotion is online. My blog, Twitter, FB, forum threads, etc. I had a book trailer made and released that on YouTube.
