Due to a lot of technical things (and due to the fact that we are now paying $30 per month for our current hosting...) we are moving to a new host immediately. The new host only costs $6 per month, and gives us a ton of extra features and ability to do lots of cool things (especially with the art gallery). After the move we will also be able to start upgrading things around here, which should take care of a ton of bugs and add lots of new features you guys will love.

So here is the catch. We need to pay up front instead of monthly. Which means we need $168.70 right away. Or in the next few days anyway.

That is paying for two years at $5.95 per month, with an extra $12.95 per year for backup services (backups are good).

I don't normally go around asking for money, but we do need some to keep this place going. So I'd appreciate it if you guys pitch in to help out with this. It's absolutely necessary, and it will help a ton of things out a lot.

I'd appreciate it if you post in here to let me know if you are donating (doing so will not only help me keep track of donations, but will also help encourage others to jump in as well), and then send the money via paypal to [email protected] by clicking the Donate button below. I'll be collecting them all and paying the hosting company with it.

If we go over the needed amount, which would be awesome, I'll keep it separate for other HW expenses. None of this is going in my pocket.

As White Raven said "Holy Cow!!" There are a lot of members on the site, but are there enough to pay for the host? I'd love to donate but I've been saving up for Bethy's book and "The Door Within" and I still need to $2.72 to get the books so basically, I'm broke. But if I get any extra change I'll be sure to give to you.

As a Read-a-Thon organizer, I can assure you that having that abundance of donations to cover prize shipping costs - just like that - is beyond amazing and a huge blessing. God provides... sometimes without us even trying!

Story time anyone?

Jay came to me the day he started this thread and explained the situation. I was, frankly, quite incredulous. And dubious. I don't remember what all I told him, but it ran something along the lines of "You can't raise that much money from that number of people that fast. If we had a month maybe..." I knew he had started a thread, but I figured I'd check it later this week and do some prodding and poking. I was a little annoyed that this had to come up now right when we were worrying about paying shipping costs for the Readathon. ("everyone's going to donate for the server and then how are we going to raise money to ship the books?" was how my doubting little brain ran.)

Then, yesterday, they moved servers, and I wondered what in Holy Worlds was going on because it wasn't possible we'd raised the money yet... and then this morning I got Jay's e-mail.

I am amazed, humbled, and so very proud of everyone who helped, whether through encouragement, prayers, donations, or just perking up and listening. You guys are incredible. God is incredible. This... entire thing blows my mind. Because I wasn't wrong to be dubious; cautious. Everything I thought was true. This, here, is a sort of miracle. And a miracle is just what I need right now.
