*laughing* Personally I've always been fond of the apatosaurus types - you know, "long neck" varieties. However, a horse-sized one that walks on two legs might be good for riding, and something tiny would probably fit better in the house.

There are too many cool dinosaurs to pick just one, I think.

What's the difference between the two?

The Valar were like "high angels". They played a huge part in the making of "Middle-Earth".
The Maiar were like "minor angels". Usually the ones you hear about either served the Valar, Melkor, or Sauron.

What do you mean they don't have "Tom" in them? But I do have all three as extended versions.

Well, I checked FotR out from the library... and it wasn't the extended edition. Well, it was, but it was only discs 3&4 from the extended edition, which are just bonus features. Since I haven't had time to watch the theatrical film yet, I'll probably return it and request the extended editions.

Yes, Tom Bombadill was in The Fellowship of the Ring. If memory serves me correctly, Frodo and Sam met him as they were leaving the Shire. He was NOT in the movies (extended and original), which was very disappointing. However, Tom saves Frodo and Sam from some sort of evil and during this process, Frodo and Sam gain swords from the loot of the evil person (I believe it was a ghost, but not positive) as well.

Clefspeare is right. The creature was a Barrow-wight that haunted the graves of ancient kings, buried in the Barrow-downs.

*loves the extended ones * There is more detail, and they cut a ton of funny banter between Legolos and Gimli out of the second film, which the extended version adds back in.

I returned the theatrical versions and will request the extended editions soon. When I'm in the mood for it. Right now I've been in a light "brainless" movie kind of mood. Like classic Disney.

Tom Bombadill was delightful in the books.
