Gnomes are my conglomeration of elves, dwarfs and gnomes.

The gnomes’ eyes are shades of white, grey and black. They are small, with a small iris and a large pupil. Their noses are small and extremely round, while their mouths are long and thin. The gnomes’ faces are long and angular, with high cheekbones. Their ears are are extremely pointed, and lie flat against their head. The females’ hair is chin length, while the males’ is normal. Their hair is straight and can be white, grey or black. The gnomes’ bodies are short and skinny. They have abnormally large hands and feet. Their skin can have any tone, but tends toward a light, pasty colour.

The female gnomes’ clothing is made out of coarse white, grey, black or blue fabric. It is comprised of a skirt the falls just below the knee, a short-sleeved blouse, and a shawl. The males’ clothing is also made out of coarse white, grey, black or blue fabric. It is comprised of knee-length trousers and a jerkin.

The gnomes’ speech is slow and to-the-point. Their movements are swift and jerky.

Gnomes are wise, but generally unfeeling. They are extremely impatient, but at the same time, they are stubborn and loyal. They are swift, semi-loud and hasty .

Gnomes like drab colours, darkness, predictability, bats and knowledge. They dislike bright colours, sunlight, spontaneity and butterflies.

Darkness and herbs are beneficial to their health. Sunlight can be damaging and/or lethal.

The things I have outlined here are what is usually the case. It is possible for gnomes to differ from this description. Those who do are either shunned or adored. If you have any questions about why I made them a certain way, ask away! It will help me to solidify them.

Nice job. Your gnomes are unique from other variants that have been done in the past. That's a good thing by the way :D.

Does your description of the gnomes - particularly their personalities - cover every single gnome or just gnomes in general?

Thank you! That's what I'm aiming for. (though I did cave in and make my giants rather stereotypical)

Gnomes in general. If you want the scientific explanation... The personalities, looks, etc. that I outlined would be the dominant alleles, and anything else would be recessive alleles. So it would be possible for them to be different, but both parents would have to pass on the recessive alleles. However, they aren't all exactly wise to the same degree (for example). They can vary greatly within the characteristics.

What do you mean by that?

Irises would still have to be bigger than the pupils, obviously. And I was just wondering if you realized that enlarging and shrinking irises and pupils affects vision.

What?! I guess that means they live underground and never come up?

Definitely agree there. Nice Job! :D

I mean that they are a mixture of elves, dwarfs, and gnomes. I haven't developed my races past descriptions, yet, so that's the best explanation I can do for now. :)

The irises are still bigger than the pupils, I just meant smaller in comparison to humans. And I do realize that it affects vision. I'm not quite sure how that will play out, yet.

Right. When they do come up, they are completely covered.

I remembered why I made the gnomes eyes the way they are. When humans are in darker placed, their pupils expand to take in more light. Because the gnomes are always underground, their eyes were created with larger pupils to take in more light.
