Hello,

I'm Michael Traven. Some of you know me from other places, most of you don't know me at all (at least, I hope not...). I've been writing for 9 years, screenwriting for 4, and making up stories since I was at least 3. I started in fantasy, moved to crime mostly when I began screenwriting, and recently began developing a fantasy project again (or two).

Anyway, I just got back into novel writing this year, and when I started my blog I realized I know far too few writers, and decided to work on that. So here I am. Now this feels like a meet-and-greet, but that's just how it has to be.

Looking forward to meeting (more) of you. :)

Sentinel

Hi, Michael! Welcome! :D

*dumps glitter around*

Do you write science fiction? If so, you may be interested in http://www.holyworlds.org/scifi , our other site.

Have you ever done NaNoWriMo or Script Frenzy? Are you on the Christian screenwriting site?

Have you finished many novels before?

Hi, Michael! My brother is called Michael, well he's actually called John but.....Oh well, I won't go into that!

I am writing an historical crime novel at the moment. Have you ever read C.J Sansom? I love his books!

It's great to have you here, welcome! What are your hobbies when you're not writing? :dieshappy:

Oops, didn't see the novel question. I finished a fantasy novel (about 90k words) when I was 14, but lost the manuscript and all related notes in a computer crash. Haven't finished anything since (for laziness, not because I'm traumatized or anything. ).

Oh, that's neat. I haven't done much sci-fi myself.

That's because I edited my post to add that question. :D

I lost a novel I wrote once, so I can sympathize. :P

Never read C.J. Sansom. I do enjoy some historical fiction, though I don't think I've ever read historical crime! I'm currently reading a novel set in post-war Germany (which, in the second half, deals with the trials of former Nazi labor camp guards, but I don't think that technically constitutes a crime novel! <grin>).

Thanks! I watch movies constantly and enjoy the benefits of insomnia simultaneously - that is, I've been up for 24 hours and watched two movies in that time, and read about 80 pages of the above-mentioned book.

I used to play guitar, but I sold it when I moved to LA a few months ago. Other than that, I hang out with my friends and work on films when I can.

MICHAEL TRAVEN! I can't believe you're here! Why didn't you tell me? Goodness, this makes my day! You've made an excellent choice, and there's no backing out now. ;)

This is Aubrey, believe it or not.

If you wanted to meet writers, this is a great place to do it. :D The folks here will be all over your story if you choose to post anything about it. I know you have edifying thoughts to offer - especially judging by that recent blog endeavor of yours!

Guys, this is another Christian Filmmakers convert. :D He recently starting a blog which I'm finding absolutely delightful. If you're a writer, I recommend following it. http://coffeeshopdaily.wordpress.com/

Yes, I think you mentioned the name "Philly" or "Phili" elsewhere, so when I saw "Philadelphia," I assumed it was you. <grin>

Thank you, I'll take two actually, if you have them. I like to keep one in my pocket for long walks and/or random hours of the night that I wake up and demand to be fed and no-one's around to feed me.

Yeah... I'm nowhere near that old, however much certain people on here like to joke about me being old.

*laughs brightly* Yeah, the name "Philli" escapes on CF occasionally. I'm glad you're here, Michael, and of course, take two!

Fun and enthusiastic... yup, that about sums it up right there. :D

Ah! You're a CFer, aren't you. A frequent poster over there, actually, if memory serves me well.

Welcome, sir. So which is your greater passion, script writing or novel writing? Are you a computer typer, or a pen scribbler? Or perhaps you are one of those rare breeds who uses a type writer! *Click click click click, Chaching! *

Sorry, I had to do that...

*smacks Brendan with the infamous rolled up newspaper for changing another name *

Not sure. As the saying goes, I hate writing but I love having written. Anything I finish soon will be my favorite. ;)

I go back and forth between computer and notepad, but I generally keep everything for one project on format or the other. Right now, I'm using the iMac with OpenOffice, and Evernote for plotting the new fantasy project I started on last night.

Hey Katie, how's it going? Yeah, I could tell it was different when I noticed that several members have 2,000-3,000 posts in a year, when I've got 4,200 on CF.org over 3.5 years.

Welcome Sentinel! That's an awesome name.

So, introductions... I am the leprechaun king. (a result of a series of unfortunate and fortunate events that you can find on the page and following page of this link-The Quest for the Leprechaun King Who Stole My Kitchen Sinks.)

I have a pet dwarf elephant (it almost got stolen once ( ) you can read about that somewhere in Chat Mishaps as well). Gimli enjoys eating fruit pizza ( :P ) and celebrating special occasions.

I look forward to seeing you around.

Random note: Have a cupcake! *offers Sentinel another one of Philli's cupcakes* :D

One ear is a floppy dog's ear and the other is a pointy dog's ear. Your hair is a mess of tentacles. You have the body of a centaur, with four wings and two tails (both with feathers on the end). Two wings are pink. The other two are green and black, respectively. You have a row of sharp spines going down your back (very sharp). You also hiccup rainbow bubbles... ~Vili

Well that's just no fun at all. ;)

I don't want to be the subject of your next crime thriller, okay. ;)

Yes, if you're looking for someone to talk to about thrillers or horror writing, Jonathan'll do ya! :D

*wonders where Sui got a hold of her cupcakes*

I got one from the emergency supply.
(I didn't have any food at the moment- sounds like an emergency to me  )

Thanks! Australia, eh? Are you the only one on this board from down under, or are you just the responsible party, so to speak? ;)

Thanks very much, and it's great to meet you (and receive more cupcakes!).

Actually, I believe you would be the victim. I would be the subject. It'll be fun... like metafiction or something!

Awesome, good to know!

Hello and welcome!

Do you prefer Michael or Sentinel? I typically call people by their usernames, but since your post said Michael...

Hi! I think Sentinel would be most efficient, unless I post my name in my signature or something, otherwise people reading a post addressing me as Michael would need to have prior knowledge of that being my name. Thanks for asking, though! :D

Haha, a bit of both. :D I was the first one from down under to arrive here and I was the only Australian for quite a while until Cassandra joined. :D

I mean to say, welcome to this forum which snatched me away from CF, Michael! XD (do you know who I am, btw? :D )

Agh, there are no clues! I think Aubrey is the only one I recognized, and I think I saw Joe around here somewhere... other than that, I don't know who anyone is.

Yep, Joe is The Bard. I'm Carolyn N. :D *points at Melody and Dieki* Those are my sibs.

*covers eyes* We've had some interesting roll-playing stories circulate around here (including an assassination attempt) but nothing quite like that...

Uh, Michael, I wouldn't worry about confusing people by using names that aren't marked on your profile. We mix real names with usernames pretty liberally, or some of us do anyway, and Katie and the Kondraels call me Leah half the time... plus most everyone has some unique nicknames that aren't in any way related to their username, so... yeah. I wouldn't worry about it, personally. ;)

I had a conversation about this with another HWer which I will allow to remain anonymous:

Me: *explains the Kondraels' nicknames*
Him: HW is so complicated! *faints*
Me: Get a spine.
Him: I haz a spine, but no spine can stand against HW!

*Standard Introductory Welcome* {you asked for it :rofl:}

>>>> slight aside: *dies laughing at the strange aforementioned post* <<<

*hem, hem - serious face*

Welcome to Holy Worlds, a realm full of endless possibilities, where seriousness is scorned and laughter liberally encouraged, while summarizing all things under the sun is s...s...something... and... you get the picture  . *Attempted alliteration aborts*

Anyhoo, have a slice of pie! *dishes out pie and hot cocoa - the cocoa's blue!! And it's REEEELY GOOD!*

Beware of the pie... I have heard it has bones and cucumbers in it.

Welcome to Holy Worlds, Sentinel! I'm late, I'm sorry, but I'm here now! :D

I hope our welcoming party has been above the standard! It's a pleasure to have you here.

As you started a Standard Introductory Thread, I will now give you my standard welcome:

Welcome to the Holy Worlds, Mr. Sentinel! As a welcome home gift, I would like to bestow upon you this huge basket of Chocolate Chip muffins. *heaves it onto the table* Try to keep it out of the reach of all little unicorns. They seriously love them. ;)

And, as a warning:
Watch your step. Or the Editors will fix you.
