The Marhion (pronounced mar-ee-on) are the enemies of the Elemental Races.

The Marhions’ eyes are usually a deep black. They are extremely slit-like and wide. Their noses are long and thin, with pointy, curved tips, while their mouths are long, thin and a deep red colour. The Marhions’ faces are long and angular with high cheekbones. Their ears are extremely long and pointy, and poke out slightly from their head. The females’ hair is waist length, while the males’ is closely cropped. Their hair is very straight and is the deep black of raven’s feathers. The Marhions’ bodies are tall and thin with hidden strength. Their skin is exceptionally pale.

The female Marhions’ clothing is made out of wispy, iridescent black fabric. It is comprised of a loose fitting dress, loosely belted at the waist. The males’ clothing is also iridescent black, but is a somewhat heavier fabric. It is comprised of a tunic and pants.

The Marhions’ speech is swift, smooth, and somewhat mysterious. Their movements are smooth and lightning swift.

Marhions have one-track, cruel minds. They are impatient and demanding. Marhions are hasty and loud.

Marhions like black, night and caves. They dislike white, day and open spaces.

Onyx is beneficial for their health. Opal can be damaging and/or lethal, but it is a very rare gem in Saemyr.

Marhions can be subdivided into four sub-races: sylph destroyers, naiad destroyers, dryad destroyers and taian destroyers. I won’t get into them now, but if you’re interested…maybe in the future!

The things I have outlined here are what is usually the case. It is possible for Marhions to differ from this description. Those who do are usually made leaders. If you have any questions about why I made them a certain way, ask away! It will help me to solidify them.

For some reason, it seems that if they were loud they would prefer twilight or something to actual night. I guess they wouldn't be very sneaky at night if they were loud.

I would love to hear about them!

Very interesting. Are Marhions inherently evil? Were they always this way? Just curious. :D

Your elementals and their opposing races remind me more an more of certain modern interpretations of faey-stories. (Mods: Don't change that spelling.)

Redemption is to be purchased, to have a price paid. So I was redeemed from my master sin, and from justice, which demanded my death. For He paid the price of sin by becoming sin, and met the demands of justice by dying for us.

For all men have a master. But a man cannot have two masters. For he will love one and hate the other. You cannot serve God and sin. So I die to the old, as He died, and I am resurrected to the new, as He was resurrected.

Note: Ebed is Hebrew for bondsman, Eleutheros is Greek for unrestrained (not a slave).

I'm not exactly sure what faey-stories are. And is that good or bad?

It's more their actions that are loud, if that makes any sense

OK! You'll have to wait awhile, though. :P

Seraph, I'm going to direct you to the introduction I wrote about the Marhions on my blog (http://aloveofbooks.wordpress.com/2010/03/21/the-four-destroying-races-introduction/). If that doesn't answer your questions, I'll clarify further. :)

Pardon me. They are something like old-fashioned fairy stories. Only spelled differently. If you've ever read Tolkien's Smith of Wootten Major, they are like that.

I assume you mean how they came to exist in Saemyr, not how I came up with the idea?

All of the Destroying Races are basically like albinos of the race group that they destroy. So each individual Marhion would exist because of their combination of DNA that they got from their parents. However, they would look normal until they reached a certain age. Does that answer your question?

I haven't read that (I've just started reading Tolkien), but I would think they'd be something like Gail Carson Levine's books?

And is it good or bad that my races remind you of that?

Not really, God created a bit of the genome that was to be used for destruction?

I've been thinking and thinking about this, and I finally have an answer. The genome came about because of the Fall.
