Except for the part about RAR {how desperate were you? }, excellent job! I feel quite thoroughly welcomed. And it's great to meet yet another Holyworlder. I believe we have a bit of pie left, if you like! *hands Namor steaming hot slice as praise for his barding skills*

I don't write sci fi, at least I haven't before. I'm more of a historical fic & fantasy gal. With some contemporary stuff thrown in for diversity :) . Actually, my first piece of work was a story about my rubber duckies I played with in the bath when I was little  !

Oh, I love horses! Thus the avi is quite appropriate - credits to Seer there. I took riding lessons on a visit to the States once, but other than that I've mostly admired them from afar. How about you?

Parelli? No, never in my whole entire life have I heard that word! Now please do enlighten me!

Pets... sadly, no, none at all. And the only one I've ever had are goldfish we "goldfish-sat" one time for friends. My family moves way too often to keep pets, plus, my mom is highly allergic to most furry animals. I've always wanted either a cat or a horse, though - aside, of course, from unicorns, friendly dragons, fairies, and the like ;) .

Jane Austen - YES!!! You've just stumbled onto one of my favorites! Pride and Prejudice certainly ranks in my top 10 faves, and her other ones are good, but not quite as lovely. Sense and Sensibility was awful, though.... I finished reading by wishing a particular character would die so that Marianne, one of the heroines, could marry her true love. But she married this not-too-old-but-somewhat-unromantic guy instead. As you may be aware.

Yes! Put Light Princess on your to-read list definitely! It's a short story, so wouldn't take that long. Here's the link to the free Gutenberg version: http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/697 You should also look at George MacDonald's other works, if you like this one. Which, if you like fairy tales, I'm sure you will!

~ Dawn

Thanks, I think it knocked me crazy, but I'll soon be sane again, right?

I like to write Sci Fi and Fantasy and Historical....I know! Well, I didn't write any Sci Fi or Fantasy but guess what? I found Holy Worlds, now I like them a lot hehe.

I liked horse riding and used to do some but then I fell off. Yea, so I kind of went off horse riding lol. If my sister gets a horse she is insisting she will teach me so we shall see. :) Parelli is all about natural horsemanship. http://www.parellinaturalhorsetraining.com/ Here is their website so you can see. :)

Hah! Sense and Sensibility, now I like the film but I found the book really hard to read. So it wasn't my favourite in that sense. I love Emma! Along with the 2010 version of the film. It follows the book so closely.

Thank you! I will read it. :)

The 2009 version with Romola Garai? Or is there {yet another} version I haven't heard about?

There is an old BBC version of Emma (gag), one with Kate Beckensale (if that's not how you spell her name, sorry), one with Romola Garai, and one with Gwyneth Paltrow.

Uh, Elanor, I hate to break it to you, but... you're never going to recover your sanity so long as you stay on HW. If you want to regenerate your normalcy, you'll need to take a netcation from the forums. ;)

Those of us who know Brendan, as opposed to Inesdar, know you are a softy, sentimental type, Brendan. I already knew you liked Austen. ;)

*can't help grinning at the very...in~teresting...conversation  *

I liked the Gwyneth Paltrow and the Romola Garai versions of Emma. They're both sweet. But...I just dislike Emma. She's so "shchyoopid" {translation: stupid} sometimes!

Inesdar wrote:

All hail Jane Austen! Sense & Sensibility was good. Yes. But... Colonel Brandon... Nice name, but especially in the movie he was so very oily and obnoxious and gag-inducing. Particularly when compared with the dashing Mr. Whilloughby.

@Brendan: You don't have to admit it, we all know it is true. ;)

@Dawn: I didn't really care for that Colonel Brandon either.

@Bethy: Brendan and I have a tendancy to induce that kind of response, I think...

You should have specified! In the context of HW "bleed green" can have an entirely different meaning. You should have known that. ;)

Anyway, that makes more sense, anyways. :D You should have said "bleed army green." ;)

Just as a question Evenstar, what do you think of Dickens as opposed to Austen?

Hm... I'm definitely more of an Austen fan, and not just because I'm female. I find Dickens a touch sentimental and "purple-prosy", although some of it fits the occasion perfectly {like Tale of Two Cities}. I've read more Austen than Dickens, and I enjoy both, but I think I enjoy Austen's more dry, wry, sarcastic yet pleasant tone more.

ARMY?! :P I'd never say that! *shakes head * Marine, Philli. I bleed lean, mean, fighting Marine green.

*bristles* HEY! There's nothing wrong with Army! I'm an Army Brat all the way, so watch yourself, missy! ;)
(though technically, Dad's a former Marine, and once a Marine, always a Marine, and Marines are totally awesome, so I guess I have nothing to complain about.)

*Realizes she derailed the thread* Whoops, sorry, I couldn't resist. Back on topic.

You're a Jane Austen fan, Star? I haven't read any of her books except for Pride and Prejudice (it's one of the most quotable books in existence). You might've said already, but which of her books is your favorite? :D

Okay you guys, I was not going to say anything, but since someone other than Brendan (who is only army progeny of a year) said something, I want to preface I said NOTHING bad about the Army, thank you very much. You all read into my comment. After all, my good friend Jeremy is Army, my cousin Kyle is National Guard, Jen is Air force, and Dave is Navy, to name a few. I have many friends in all places.

Now, I participate in the typical Military brat banter. I call my friends flyboys, Swabbies, Squids, Devil Dogs, and Chair force, I would never say anything snarky about the army, or any other branch (other than National Guard Reserves, maybe). They are all part of the Military. While I am dedicated to the Marines in particular, and would defend their superiority for multiple reasons (which many of my friends will agree with), I am dedicated to the military primarily, like any true Military Brat.

Didn't mean to get off topic, but I couldn't let that go.

We know you didn't, Airianna, but you were egging us on pretty good about army green vs. marine green. Just returning the comments in kind. ;)

I was teasing, Airi!

Guess I should've clarified that . . . ;)

*Smiles fondly and looks at drooping balloons and stale glitter*

I really don't mind anyone discussing military inclinations and blood and suchlike here, although if you knew me, you'd see how highly unlikely all this is :D

My fave is Pride & Prej. By far. The others are good, but deficient in certain elements like happy endings or action or truly awesome heroines.
