Wow, some of these are hilarious.

Aw, Aemi, I bet you were disappointed you didn't go through the door! :D

*can't remember if she replied to these or not* I've dreamed the future so many times, it's uncanny. Never sci-fi future, or anything, but future little events around my home. From my Dad and brothers walking through the door and what they're talking about; to cleaning something, to picking something up whilst talking about a certain topic with someone else. More often then not they are correct too; down to the point I can almost turn around and say, "I know what you're going to say!" but I'm never fast enough to say it.

I've never had exactly the same dream, but I've had recurring dreams of jumping really high/flying, and also being hunted/chased. :D

BushMaid, I've done the same thing as well. It's not all that great for those of you who don't do it. I just get an image and then it occurs and it's like being pulled into the past and the future at the same time. The scenes that are live always end at a decision I had to make. Not much help there with making choices.

Wow, some of y'all are quite uncanny in your dreams... Reminds me of, well, myself, actually :D .

Have you ever dreamed something that later happened?
I've had several earthquake dreams where I wake up and there was actually an earthquake {this was back when I was living in Japan}. In general, I honestly hope none of my dreams come to pass, because they're usually nightmares about something horrible like death or natural disasters or being chased by evil or something.

Have you ever had the same dream?
I have this recurring theme in different dreams that I could kind of half-jump half fly into the air in a sort of dog-paddling motion. I've escaped from a few evil characters this way. But usually the problem is I can't control my flight, so I keep flying higher and higher. Once I reached outer space and started plummeting back to earth. That was pretty typical of my dreams :P . Oh, and I have a *lot* of dreams about elevators {lifts, for you Aussie folks}.

Have you ever based a story off of a dream?
I have a dream journal where I write down my dreams, and some of them are good enough to be stories. But I don't think I've ever fleshed them out into a fully-fledged story, no.

What's the craziest dream you've ever had?
You're asking for just one? I've had dreams about having to escape from a tornado; a tsunami; an avalanche; earthquakes; and more. I've also met the general of a villianous army, and defeated her by shouting, "Let there be light!" then married the general's son, who had turned to the good side a while earlier. That was an unusually good dream. I've also had a dream that I was Aravis in Prince Caspian {note: that's a combination of Horse and His Boy and Prince Caspian, by the way} and I was the star in the movie where we were combating a host of ghostly army. {LotR much?}

I could keep going on, but I'm sure you get the idea.... :D

Two nights ago I dreamed about Murphy's Law... And it actually went past where I had written. :D

Vanya Katerina Jaynin wrote:

 Others too? I've dreamed two (major) things something that happened in the future.

The first time I dreamed about a trip with my youth group involving ball room dancing... In the dream I went outside, and the town around me seemed oddly separate than the place where we danced. When I went to Venezuela for the first time that was what the town we were in looked like... Exactly.

The second time I dreamed I was sitting in restaurant at a four person table that I'd never seen before. My Dad was sitting next to me, and we were conversing with these two people I had never seen before. When I went to Venezuela a second time, I ended up sitting with my Daddy and two other people on our team in a restaurant. Not only did I realize they were the same people in my dream, but we were having the same conversation that I had dreamed! Weird, huh? :D

Have you ever dreamed something that later happened?
Yes.
Have you ever had the same dream?
Yes.
Have you ever based a story off of a dream?
No.

I've had some weird dreams. One was about my aunt (who I see approximately once every five years and lives in a different state) who had been kidnapped by Egyptians, then recovered. She was telling us (me, my dad, my mom) about the Egyptians, the pyramids, etc., and then the next day she didn't remember anything at all about it.

Another dream was when I was locked outside of my house with a poisonous snake....

Last night I dreamed about HolyWorlds; I dreamed I received a PM, and when I opened it, it was from a Council member telling me that I was on HW too much, and I was posting way too often. They gave me a long list of things I can do to be on HW much less frequently and how to post less.

I think my subconsciousness is trying to tell me something...

*laughs at Busheh's comment* No way! You're on HW too little...wait...am I encouraging procrastination? Ignore me, I'm hyped up on sugar (as usual) oh, hey! A BIRD! *tries to catch* *runs into window* That was a bad idea.

*cough* ON topic...

Ninety percent of my dreams mean something. Does anybody else believe that a dream can be a symbol for something? I've had my dreams actually warn me about something that's going to happen; from somebody screaming at me to lightning striking our backyard...sort of strange...but...yeaaah.

If you think about it...the Bible does use dreams as warnings...

This is how dragons have kept such a low profile:

"I just saw a dragon,
no one else has seen any dragons
(since nobody is telling me that they have seen a dragon),
therefore every one will think I am mad,
therefore I will not tell anyone that I have seen a dragon."

And that is one reason I like this thread so much.

Aemi wrote:

People do that, and for all we know it may be the natural way to dream, and we have lost the ability through anxiety and sleep deprivation.
People can do it easier when they are younger (my younger brother apparently does it often), and two of the key things for you to be able to do it are not being anxious and getting enough sleep.

Jay has a friend who did it the first time he tried, but that is supposed to be rare.

There is some good information here http://www.dreamviews.com/content/

The funny thing was, Ines was old with a beard  , just like has been joked! It wasn't long like it is "supposed" to be :'( .But it was still funny  ! I told Bethy about it, but I haven't had the chance to tell Ines. :)

I would like to add a few questions:

Have you ever gotten into a lucid dream?

If you have, what was it like? what did you do?

The first lucid dream I had was about three seconds long before I accidentally woke myself up.

This is the only absolute beginning of a dream that I can remember. In my dream I could actually remember coming out of dreamless sleep.

It was black dark, and there was a bright screen in front of me. Because there was no context I could not tell whether it was a computer screen or a theater screen. There was no sound. I saw the emblems and logos of the people who made the movie one after another; there were a lot of blues, grays, whites, and blacks.

In my dream I was waiting for the emblem of the movie to come up so that I would become lucid. When the emblem for the movie did appear I instantly realized that I was in a dream. I also suddenly had a body (before there was nothing in my dream except the screen), and I was alone in a chair in a theater.

Out of curiosity I decided to control something, so I thrust my hand out toward the screen, without much purpose other than control something.

The screen went black, and there was a rumbling sound, and I felt the armrests begin turning into the controls of a space ship.

Then my excitement level woke me up. I was quite happy though.

When I was younger I had a dream, but I only remember the characters.
It was something about Pooh Bear and Jesus' disciples fighting againist each other in the Revolutionary war. . . I'm guessing I must have been studying the Revolution, watched Pooh Bear that day, and somewhere in there was told a Bible story. Umm, so that's one of the strangest things. . .

I tried to lucid dream, but I don't remember any dream from last night :'( .
I will have to try again tonight! ;)

People have multiple dreams every night, in cycles of around ninety minutes (if I remember right), but after each cycle ends

you get mind wiped.

You have to purposefully or accidentally override the mind wipe to remember the dream.

I think your brain picks up this habit from our reluctance to face our troubles, especially our inward troubles. It can get nearly complete control over our perception of our dreams, more control than it can get over any other part of our perception.

I can control what I dream of. If I concentrate just right before falling asleep I can usually get a properly developed storyline that I put there on purpose.

I've read that you can train yourself to wake up after each cycle, to write the dream down. Never tried it though. I like my sleep. :)

Anyone heard of lucid dreaming? So you start to dream and you can feel perfectly, smell, hear, touch, taste, and all the other senses are still with you in your dream. Although just a dream, it will seem like real life. I wish I could really do that. Just once, if not at all.

YES. It's the best, especially when it just happens to be the dream where you're in your book and have wings. The wind on your face, the race of your pulse, the feeling of the muscles in your third set of limbs beating to keep you aloft... wow, just wow.

I've had dreams like that. Once I dreamt I had a clock that could make time go faster if I wanted to. It was so real. I was so glad to have this clock, I went and told my brother about it, and I remember clutching it so hard my knuckles went white; I could feel the steel. Pity I woke up... I liked that clock. Made the dishes go super fast...

I really want to lucid dream now. :D

I've read that you can train yourself to wake up after each cycle, to write the dream down. Never tried it though. I like my sleep. :)

People who do that make sure to get extra sleep. If you're behind on your sleep it does not work. In fact, the cycles with the longest dream sections are the last few.

Closing your eyes, relaxing them, while looking at the sun, can help you get sleep. Going to bed early and getting up early also helps. And deep breathing before you go to bed. And getting enough work and exercise in the morning. Ask Jay about tinting your computer screen red.

But the main thing is to have peace. True peace.

I basically dive into bed and I'm snoring before I hit the pillow and don't wake until the morning. :D

Last night I dreamt I received the first few issues of HW newsletter in my inbox. T'was awesome! Maybe it's one of those few future dreams. ;)

I don't remember any of my dreams, ever :P Although I do remember one - 'twas the best dream I have ever had (I can properly say that as it is the ONLY one I remember :P) But I won't elaborate, as it was quite strange.

lolz! My best dream is kind of... how would you put it? Something every guy dreams about if he hasn't had his first kiss. Let's leave it at that, shall we?

When I was about 6 or 7, I had a dream that was kind of strange. I would appear at a park and I would see this man with his German shepherd dog. Then I would wake up. :D

I dreamt about HW the other night, but I forget what it was all about... I think I was in trouble or something... these kind of recurring dreams aren't good. :P

I think I said something a rather... meant in the best of ways and taken the worst. :P That rings too close to the truth. I shall have to have a talk to myself about these dreams. They call them "dreams" because they never happen in reality.

Have I ever dreamed up something weird?

Last night I had a dream that I was supposed to fight this dragon. It ended up looking like a giant serpent and then changed into something like Medusa. I think I had the TARDIS from Doctor Who in there also... I had to fight the dragon with a hatchet...

Sounds tricky... :?
Did the dragon know you were coming? Maybe you could sneak up behind it.

*starts thinking of how to kill that dragon then realizes that that would take this thread even more off topic*

*backs away from thread and starts whistling innocently*
