How many times has one of your HW friends changed siggie or avatar and you have wanted to compliment or comment? But (oh horror) you cannot without (gasp) derailing the thread! And even if you did make a comment, others would not know you did it in that thread, since it is not about avatars or signatures and so they would not be able to post their thoughts either. So they are left to be silent (what sorrow) or to (unthinkable thought!) derail another thread! Sometimes we break down and PM the person. Sometimes we insert a teeny tiny postscript. But we struggle unendingly with the horrible temptation to veer off topic on a perfectly innocent, harmless thread, and we fight out guilt when we have done so, or that we ever desired to do so, and we wish (Oh hope!) and think "If only there was a place to express my admiration of the qualities of a Vili-bird!" (what unspeakable profundity!)

And so, my dear people, here it is. The place to comment, to quote, to remember; to admire, to adore, to demand; to assuage your desire to take note, to discuss and to not derail the peaceful train of HW.

My favorite signatures so far...Lady E's, and Airianna's. I also love Elanor's, because I love that poem.
And I really liked Bethany Faith's old signature. It's gone now.
And Sir Emeth's new avatar is "way cool". Wait, did I really just say that?

Um... mine is defined as too lazy to fix it from April 1. Even then it wasn't much better than lame, just something I came up with on the spur of the moment...

But basically, everyone gets Airianna and me mixed up. Like... everyone. Even people who vowed they'd never confuse us. So on April Fool's we made ourselves as similar as possible, to confound those who had previously confused us. Make sense? And Airi changed hers, mine must wait until some night when the impulse takes me to make it sensible again.

I love Emeth's new avatar. It looks fantastic. There are so many others I like though; Airi's, I love Indy's new one, Elanor's is very pretty, Bethy's Pegasus is gorgeous... so many awesome ones!

Beth, I liked your old signature because it gave a lot of information about you. So I learned your personality right from the start. But your new signature makes you sound...older.

(@Aemi) Haha, it didn't say that much about me, just that I'm extremely random as are most HWers. Yah, a sentence from my book can make me sound older... Specifically the one sentence that scared my mom because she "didn't know I could write like that".

I forgot about Airi's siggy, I like that one. I also love Shawn Henderson's signature (the excerpt from Shattering The Dark...or...something like that) it's awesome! I have to stop to read it every time.

Somehow I dont' think that's the right word for that. Pixel is a measurement. (Although that might not be technically correct either.) Pixelate is the word we use at my house when something is really low resolution and you can see the individual pixels. (Pixelate is not a technical term that I'm aware of.)

Vili and Beth's are not .jpg. The image has no background, so it looks like it sits right on the forum. Dieki's are usually like this, I think, and Eve's TPC badge is also. It originally had a white background but I removed it for her.

So... if that's what's being talked about your dragonbutterfly would look like it was flying right off the forum page instead of being a little self contained picture, see?

pixels (they have a technical name, let's see if I can remember it... sprites? maybe).

I call them pixels because they're like mini, digital paintings that you paint pixel-by-pixel with a limited palette.

Thanks guys, I've very fond of it myself. I had some other things in my signature, but I felt they were detracting from the two things I really wanted people to focus on, so I removed them. Now I just have the two quotes. I'm thinking about removing my book listing.... But I haven't convinced myself to remove that yet.

I think leaving the book list is fine. Not only is it of interest, it is also short and doesn't distract from the rest of the signature.
