Hello to everyone on this forum!

My name is Captain Nemo (Yes, I am a girl) and I want to give a shout out to my Lieutenant Kirk, AKA Shawn Henderson.

Some interesting facts about me would be:

I enjoy public speaking and am heavily involved with a Christian communication organization.

I love writing poetry, research papers, personal narratives, and wish to improve my fiction.

Parlez-vous français? J’aime cette langue! Although, I’m not fluent in it... yet.

I can’t wait to figure out where everything is on this forum and start getting involved! :D

I think that Jules Verne was an AMAZING writer and love stories I’ve read by him.

For those of you who know what Adventures in Odyssey is, I am obsess—overly passionate with it and LOVE writing scripts for it (but not submitting them... yet).

I have a top-ten list of favorite movies that alternates depending on my moods and can contain over/under 10 films.

I can’t wait to get to know all of you and improve my fictional writing on this forum! :D

Welcome to HW Captain Nemo! *Salutes*

*Sprinkles glitter about*

I love 20,000 leagues under the sea! Although I have never seen the film.

Glad to have you here! *Glomps*

Maybe it's the Pixar geek in me talking, but my first inclination when I hear the name "Nemo" is to think of Finding Nemo... :D

Welcome! We're so glad to have you here! If you want to find help for polishing your fiction, you've come to the right place! Have a cupcake, take a look around, and just throw me (or pretty much anyone else) a PM if you need any help! We are here to assist you as you go through the glitter-filled assimilation process. :D

What kind of topics do you enjoy writing research papers on?

YAY! Another screenwriter! I love writing scripts, and I've had a few short ones produced (or pending production). :D Have you written any other scripts besides AiO related ones?

Welcome to Holy Worlds! :D

I'm not surprised that a friend of Shawn's is also obsess--overly passionate about Adventures in Odyssey. ;) I use to listen to the Adventures in Odyssey radio show when I was younger, but what I liked even more were the movies.

Right now my research papers are on topics covered in my history class. Currently I am working on a paper about Elizabeth I. As for other scripts, no I have not, but I think it would be very interesting to write a script for something else.

Adventures in Odyssey... ahh... the inspiration for half my humor. I haven't heard the last few albums though, I stopped somewhere around the antics surrounding The Whisperer.

Welcome to Holy Worlds, Captain.

Welcome, welcome, welcome, Nemooo! I'm afraid to say my first thought was Finding Nemo too...either that or the scary animated movie Nemo. *shudders* I'm sorry Pixar has transformed our thoughts on that name. In itself, I really do like it though, fish aside. :D

I'm excited to have a friend of Shawn's here!

@Shawn: Splendid job, Miss Shawn! ^^

Mm, see, I have to practice public speaking. I can speak to groups informally, but put me in front of a mic and there she goes "umming" and "uhhing". Ah well, something to improve upon, yes?

I tried teaching myself French, but that didn't go so well. Though I did recognize "J'aime" for some reason. Would you care to translate those two sentences for us? :D

I have no doubt that you can improve your writing here! There are many great people (pretty much everyone on the forum) who would be happy to give you pointers and edit anything. ^^ There's also a lot of great topics on questions that get you thinking.

Happy discovering!

Welcome, welcome, and welcome again, Cap'n Nemo! *dishes out slices of fresh-baked apple pie sprinkled with edible blue glitter*

Adventures in Odyssey, y'say? I must confess the last time I listened to those I hated them... *guilty face* mostly because we had only two cassette tapes {I feel ancient!}, and we kept listening to them over...and over...and over...and, yes, over again.

And on a different note...

We used to listen to AiO a lot, but I haven't heard an episode in literal years. I think we left off after the Novacom saga. :)

Yes, Nemo, you really should try writing a script about something else! Even if you don't pursue it professionally/seriously, writing scripts is a great exercise that can really enliven your prose. I speak from experience! Plus, I don't know about you, but I find it a LOT easier to write action scenes in script format over artistic prose. :P

Yes, as a child that movie captivated and terrified me. (I have seen in a few times. Not sure why though.) It's been several years since I've seen it so I'd be curious to watch it again. But the memory of the movie still makes me uncomfortable. :P

Nemo, have you ever seen that movie before?

What is wrong with you people?! I am ashamed! Her name wasn't Finding Nemo, it was Captain Nemo! From 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea!

Poor Nemo. I knew exactly what you were referring to when I read your name.

I also love Jules Verne. Amazing author, really.

Adventures in Odyssey are great! Who is your favorite character? Do you like the old Whit, or the new one, better?

Well, you are not officially a member unless I inaugurate you with glitter, so, I shall commence the ceremony.

*two hours later *

Now you are a member! Welcome, dear Nemo, sister to my dear Lizzie!

I would advise caution, as a side note. It appears my E-cold has spread to Andrew and Katie already. We may have an epidemic on our hand soon! *gasp *

I agree, Philli, it really does help with that area of writing. Radio Drama is a challenge too because you can't "see" anything, and you can't let the audience know that, though there are exceptions. :)

I knew I recognized the title "Captain Nemo", but I couldn't quite remember where it was from. Been a long time since I watched 20,000 leagues under the sea. I did think of Finding Nemo halfway through the first post though.

Hey everyone!

Sorry, I've been off the forum for a few days. In response to some questions that have been asked or comments stated:

AIO related answers: Which Whit do I like best?... that's hard to decide... out of the three, I really like all three. They all do a very good job in their own ways, although I'm still getting used to the third Whit. I think I like the first and second Whits best, though. Favorite character? Hmm... Jason Whittaker, Shawn Emily Cooper Richardson Whittaker-Israel (A character Shawn and I came up with), Tasha Forbes, and a plethora of others. It's so hard to decide, they all do a great job acting!

20,000 Leagues Under the Sea related: It's OK everyone who does not know who Captain Nemo is!!! :D I understand at the Finding Nemo reaction... I'd probably think of Captain Nemo if I heard the word Nemo anyways. I would suggest reading the book. It's good. And no, I have not seen that animated film. It sounds interesting...

French translation: Do you speak French? I love that language!

Anywho, thanks for making me feel welcome, all! I feel like I fit right in. :D

I am not so fond of the 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea movie... *shrugs *

Be careful of your thoughts; guard your mind, for your thoughts become words. Be guarded when you speak, for your words turn into action. Watch what you do, for your actions will become habits. Be wary of your habits, for they become your character. Pray over your character; strive to mold it to the image of Christ, because your character will shape your destiny.

Ideas can germinate from the smallest seeds. Collect those seeds, and let them grow in the back of your mind. You may be surprised by what finally blooms.
