Perfect timing, I know, but I can’t help that. I'm sorry. I have my biannual cave training again this weekend (for those of you who were around for my last MVOR post). I'll be leaving on Thursday evening and coming home Sunday late. My time on here will be limited, though not nonexistent.

Today is also going to be a nonexistent day for me because I have to drive to the Doctor's office in St. Louis with my friend, so I can watch her kiddos while she is in getting her ultrasound and so on. Then I have to finish an art project today before I leave for the weekend. So I'll be in and out, just to let you all know.

I’m excited to be heading down under, but I hate I still have so much unfinished work at the moment….

It is enjoyable! I'll be sure to share all of my hair-raising adventures with ya'll when I get back. And pray I don't almost drown this time, for those of you who remember my last trip. ;)

What exactly do you do down there? You said "cave rescue". I'm assuming that you don't mean that you rescue caves. ;)

What?! *is shockingly disappointed in her HWers * You mean NONE of you remember my Underground post, or my drowning?!

*goes to get excerpts for her unpardonably forgetful HWers *

Quote:
Lots of you know that I am heading out for the weekend. I'm going to get some more Cave Training and visit some gated caves not accessible to the public. It is a long drive to get there and I've been up since 4 this morning. I might be around (especially on the drive), depending on my exhaustion level. If any of you need me you can try to contact me through E-mail, Gmail, or PM. I will be checking those before bedtime. I'll be back Sunday night.

General info that still holds up this time.

Quote:
I had a wonderful time, although my body hates me at the moment. I’m in good physical condition, but this stuff is hard when you are constantly go go going. I’ve got bruises and scrapes all over and I was practically drowned in Buzzard’s Cave, but I have survived.

Quote:
A few of you asked if there were enough caves where I live to need Cave Rescue, and the answer is most definitely. I live in the cave state which has over 6,000 caves in it. I also happen to live right next to the cave county which has 600 caves alone. Unfortunately, this also increases the risk to loss of life and injury in caves. Lots of people don’t think when they go spelunking, and those of us who participate in the sport appropriately and safely have to go in and get them out. Caving is so much fun, but it is also very deadly if you do not use your head. Everything changes underground.

Quote:
Some of you have also asked why I like caving so much. Aside from the adventurous outdoorsy aspect I love being able to conquer the treacherous tunnels and chasms underground and struggle to get back to certain part of the cave that are absolutely breathtaking and show the mighty hand of our Creator. God takes time to put detail into everything! Even things that few people will ever see. It is an underground treasure chest. The work you have to put into getting to some of these places only makes it that much more worthwhile

Jog anyone's memory now?

The irony of you going caving in light of your story "The Dragon Ate My Night Light" for some reason struck me today.

*laughs * The antagonists from murder/thriller stories do not lurk in caves though. ;) But I do admit, it sounds funny in theory.

Wow, I'm very impressed with our campsite for MVOR this year. This is the first time (out of 5) that I have ever had internet access. So I may be around during my trip. Depends on if I can get a signal at night in my tent or not. And how exhausted I am. And how late I stay up with Daddy and the guys.

I may even hop into chat for a bit... We shall see.

I know, right? Cadillac stuff!

Thus far the weather is hot and oppressive. However, it is supposed to pour Saturday and Sunday. So we shall see. My body doesn't like when the temperature shifts that drastically, but I'll deal with it.

I'm interested in the drowning incident; could you expound on that sometime? And do you enjoy the camping and sleeping in tents? I've done that.

I am back, well sort of. I am back on the forum but not back to my family yet. There is still a long drive ahead of us to get home.

Firstly, shock of all shock (due to all your prayers, I am sure) there was no rain. I know, I couldn’t believe it either. It started down pouring right as we were driving away. God is very good.

Secondly, I got sick. :P That’s right, sick. I’m coughing and sneezing, and nose running/congestion, but I did survive, and when I get home I’ll start pumping myself full of all of my herbal remedies.

My body hates me, as always. It doesn’t really matter if you are in shape or not, you always return from CT with aches and pains, bruises and scrapes. In other words, next weekend when I go break into some virgin cave, it will look like child’s play. ;)

Expedited this weekend were a maze cave, a water cave, and a dry craggy cave. No near drowning experiences this time, but, there were so pretty hairy mudslides. I’m glad to have gone but as always, I am happy to return to all of you.

Oh, and as a side note, our family came with Daddy and I this weekend (a first) and camped with us. I have some pictures of Elianna going through the speleobox that ya’ll simple must see! She was hilarious! And she went through the thing 4 times! She kept going back for more. The only time I helped her was when she had to pull herself up into the next level. She’s too short and uncoordinated for that. ;) So remind me to post those when I get back home.

Oh yeah, and another thing. For all you short people, like me, listen very carefully. Never trust what the tall guy says you should do, always trust your own instincts.

Be wary of your habits, for they become your character. Pray over your character; strive to mold it to the image of Christ, because your character will shape your destiny.

Ideas can germinate from the smallest seeds. Collect those seeds, and let them grow in the back of your mind. You may be surprised by what finally blooms.

When God takes something from your grasp, he's not punishing you. Instead, He’s opening your hands to receive something better. The will of God will never take you where the Grace of God will not protect you.

Firstly, shock of all shock (due to all your prayers, I am sure) there was no rain. I know, I couldn’t believe it either. It started down pouring right as we were driving away. God is very good.

That's good. :D

Secondly, I got sick. :P That’s right, sick. I’m coughing and sneezing, and nose running/congestion, but I did survive, and when I get home I’ll start pumping myself full of all of my herbal remedies.

That's not good. :P

Expedited this weekend were a maze cave, a water cave, and a dry craggy cave. No near drowning experiences this time, but, there were so pretty hairy mudslides. I’m glad to have gone but as always, I am happy to return to all of you.

We're happy you've returned. Welcome back! :D
