Has anyone here read Incarceron by Catherine Fisher? What did you think about it? (My opinion later.)
What about Sapphique, the sequel? Or anything else by this author?

I have never read any of her books LadyE, is she a good author? Is it worth reading?

Both Incarceron and Sapphique are worth reading, IMHO. There are pros and cons to the books, like all.
One of the major cons to me was that in the first book there was a substantial amount of profanity and crude language. The Lord's name was taken in vain over a dozen times (as I remember), but it made me feel slightly better that the examples were all in tense situations and not used casually. The second book used it far less, but the word b***h was used quite a lot.
The characters were all very vivid, which I love. Keiro was my absolute favorite, probably because he reminds me of my character Iri: rash, charming, pragmatic and vain. The story was entertaining and fresh in the setting, though not so much in the ideas. The themes of the first book surprised me, because although it was a secular book the themes seemed to have some hints of Christian values. One principle was that men are basically evil at heart, and the other was that all the characters were running from themselves, which I found fascinating.
On the whole, it's something I enjoyed reading and would definitely read again. By the bye, they're apparently making a movie of the first one and Taylor Lautner has been cast as Finn, the main character .... for anyone who's interested.

I haven't read these, E. What are they about? I'm interested in looking at these, possibly.

Here's a review from Amazon:
"Finn is a 17-year old prisoner of Incarceron. His memories begin and end there. He knows nothing about his heritage except for vague memories that tease at his mind. The teen is determined to escape the prison fashioned centuries ago as a solution to the chaos created by man. Now Incarceron is self-sustaining and self-perpetuating—prisoners are born there and they die there. Legend claims only one man has ever escaped, Sapphique, and Finn is determined to follow in his steps. Claudia, the warden's daughter, lives sequestered in a castle surrounded by servants. But she, too, longs for escape—from a father who frightens her and from betrothal to an insipid prince. Finn and Claudia each discover a crystal key and are amazed to find that they can communicate with each other. As their trust in one another builds, each pledges to help the other. The two stories emerge, intertwine and, by the end, unwind in startling twists that will astonish readers."
Despite sounding a little cliche, the story is really pretty unique in setting if nothing else. I'd say it's definitely worth looking into. The sequel has a better plot though, IMO.
