It's very good.

Drama is not the easiest thing for me to write. :P This describes it well.

The dramatist knows that there is more to a nod than agreement, more to a pause tha hit the nain hesitation – and tears are the lens through which we see a world of care. Love and hate are binding laws, defied by betrayal and redemption. A dramatist respects the power of the tongue; lives can be ruined in one word, yet what goes unspoken is often more dangerous. Under the pen of a writer, these weapons wage the war that is drama.

Aw, thank you! I wasn't originally intending for it to be a drabble, so I wasn't sure if cutting it down to 100 words made the phrasing awkward. So thank you for the comments! :D

Finally got the opportunity to write my own! It's sort of inspired by the history of my book. Also, it's only 99 words. That counts right?

Its walls were black – black like the feathers of the circling ravens – black like its master’s heart. The castle lay sprawled out in the midst of the marsh; its northern wall a pile of rubble. If it could have spoken, would it have told of that day? For once a battle had been fought here. The fate of the country had been defined. Threats had been spoken. Blood had been spilt. The patriots had won – at least for now. But one day, history would be repeated. So the castle remained looming through the fog waiting for its master’s return.

Ooh... intriguing! Technically drabbles should be exactly 100 words, but we'll forgive you. ;) It wouldn't be that hard to stick in one more word, though. Why not add an adjective to one of the black's in the first sentence? Like "pitch black" or "evil black."

I really like that one, Celestria! The imagery is really strong and even though I'm listening to happy music, I could really feel the image of evil. Good job!

I wrote this drabble today... I'm reasonably happy with the emotions and word-imagery, but I'm worried that it's too graphic to post on my blog. :P By way of disclaimer - blood on a knife is described, and it's implied but not stated what was done to get blood on the knife. I'm looking for opinions from the non-squeamish...

Quote:
He had to clean it. How? Wipe it on the ground, that was standard. No, that would just smear blood on the grass, which would be worse. The river! He ran to the bank and plunged the dagger into the water. He almost fell in – the water offered no resistance, unlike the last thing the knife had stabbed. He watched the blood crystallize into tendrils and vanish. He heaved a sigh as he drew the dagger out of the water. It sparkled, perfectly clean, as though it had never been used.

But it had.

He dropped the dagger and wept.

Oh wow, that's incredible.
It is sooo moving. I've never been squeamish of blood, and you don't realize what he did until you sense his emotions. I don't see how that all that graphic in writing. But it was so powerful. So frightening. Good job.

That was absolutely awesome Philadelphia! You did a great job with it. I'm not really a person to ask about squeamish stuff, haha, since I would have done much more without noticing. :P But I loved the way you were direct, and yet vague at the same time. Perfect. :)

It's well written, and I didn't find it particularly graphic, just dark. Was there a character who inspired it, or was it completely random?

Okay, my day has been made. Thank you so much, guys! I appreciate the feedback very deeply. And while I wouldn't ask you about squeamish level, Sir Jay ;) I would ask you about guy emotions, so your opinion is very helpful in that regard. :D

I was inspired to write this by a shot that was in one of the book trailers linked on this thread. At the end of one of them, someone is cleaning a bloody sword on the grass and it's just kind of making a mess... it all went from there. I don't think I have a character (currently) that this would apply to.

Thank you again!

Very nice, Philli! I don't think it was too graphic at all. I like how you got that much emotion into something so short.

Thanks, Arias!

Now I can't think of a suitable, non-spoiler title so I can post it on my blog... :P

Try: Running Fluid.

Or if that is too gory, do Running Water. :) Or even Running.

My first ever drabble! :D As far as I know the only rule is 100 words... are there any others?

This drabble is based on something that actually happened the other day at Walmart...

Quote:
After 4 years I was back. The last time I set foot in this town I was 12; I had attended the local public school.

I walked through Wal-Mart with my mom, helping with groceries. I turned the corner, and saw her. It was no mistake; her face hadn’t changed in the least. I had quite a crush on her back in middle school; it was almost embarrassing to see her again. She must have been 5 months pregnant. She turned and our eyes locked. Her eyes; they were solemn, aged. She deserved no words. I turned, and walked away.

So whadaya think? It still needs a title...

And, its name shall be '4 Years Later'. Thought of by Bethany Faith.

It's very good; complete, and doesn't seem to need more explanation, although it is sad. Well done! :D

*drags thread to the top of the page* Ho! Anyone written a drabble lately? I wrote this poem, and it ended up being close to 100 words, so I just made it a drabble. :)

The Bridge

I halted on the edge of the gorge, and stared down, down, at the river far below. A sheer cliff. No way could I cross without a bridge, so I looked around.
About a hundred yards away I saw a delicate arch spanning the canyon, gleaming white in the setting sun.
As I marched up to it, my heart sank. Smooth and strong, the bridge was exactly twelve inches wide, with no railing whatsoever.
But I had to cross. Shaking, I stepped onto the slender beam, poised between heaven and earth. My clothes and hair whipped wildly in the wind.
