You know, when we lived overseas, our dining room had this really cool cellar called a "padval" - it was awesome! Our family just did boring things like store jellies there, though. We never actually tried putting people down there (my parents aren't very tolerant of fantasy experiments) but I'm sure it would have been awful. Anytime someone walked on the wood floors above us dust would come flying down :)

A council member derailing the topic. *Shakes head sadly* What are the forums coming to? ;)
Having characters writing to each other is really cool. :D

I felt like contributing again.
You know you're a crazy fantasy author if:

You bring your sketchbook and notebook to the woods, not because you feel like writing, but because you want to be able to take notes on a whim.

You visit a movie wikia and are frustrated to find no sense of grammar, writing technique, or spelling at all, and whoever wrote it got the sequence of events messed up. (I had to go fix it)

You are thrilled to recieve training in any form of traditional weaponry (the Japanese bo for me)

You label your woods as Ithilien in the springtime, Mirkwood in the summer, the Old Forest in autumn, and you're searching for a winter nickname.

Some of these are kind of old, but they all apply to me right now. :D

You know you are a crazy HWer when you are writing to your pen pals and you accidentally sign as Airianna, instead of Kaitlyn.

Ideas can germinate from the smallest seeds. Collect those seeds, and let them grow in the back of your mind. You may be surprised by what finally blooms.

When God takes something from your grasp, he's not punishing you. Instead, He’s opening your hands to receive something better. The will of God will never take you where the Grace of God will not protect you.

- When you sometimes argue with your main charater as to why he has to do something in your story.

- When you use the only 2 hours of compter time you've got for today to look for a name that sounds normal, but that means Bold Graceful Sword Maiden, (Audrey Jordis.) LoL

...you're sitting in a restaurant and you notice a lady that looks like one of your characters. You instantly regret that you don't have a camera with you, but then you realize that you couldn't ask to take her picture anyway, because if she asked what kind of character she reminded you of, you'd have to tell her that the character was a traitor.

...you're walking down the street and your dad points out a certain person and says he looks like a hit man. You reply with "no" and a detailed description of your idea of what a good hit man looks like.

- When you're reading the genealogies of the Bible, and stop every so often and wonder if this would make a good character name. . . . . . Maybe if you flip a few letters around. ;)

You're constantly putting your fingers up one by one 'till 5 are up one one hand and 1 on the other, then you get an expression of glee, then rush to your computer.

I got two new character names from doing that! Jeshua is an old trainer in one of my story ideas. And then I came across Darkon and... well, perhaps I'll let your imagination figure out who he is.

I, too, do not understand, Reiyen. ^^;;

You know you're a crazy fantasy writer when...

1.) ...You are writing along, pause, imagine what happens next and continue that train of thought until you completely zone out. Then when you come out of your little trance, you're upset you have to continue writing waaaay back before your imaginings to get to the part you want to write about later in the story. (This happens to me every time I sit down to write.)

2.) ...You purposely avoid using a specific date in your story to give it the benefit of the doubt in the time line.

3.) ...depending on the music, you simply cannot write.

4.) ...You carefully take note of what happens and the thoughts you have when your stomach is growling to imagine what your character goes through.

5.) ...Bathroom breaks in your story are far and few or non-existant.

-When the greatest complements you can receive consist of "I like watching you fight with your characters" and "your characters are interesting!"
-When you avoid texting because it is extremely hard to use proper grammar on such a small keyboard...and there are always...typos.
-When the first thing you do in the morning is write down the dream you had so you can write a story around it.

When you either make the bad guys repent or give them no soul so you don't feel bad sending them to Hell.

When you have an entire character based off of your dog's personality.

When you bring popcorn to a werewolf fight.

When the major difference between you and the world is that your dreams are quite literally impossible as opposed the the potentially practically impossible dreams of the rest of the world.

When you say things like,
"I didn't want to do it; he forced me to!"
and "Wait! No! Come back here; don't do it!" and you are speaking of imaginary people.

~ when you faint in the middle of a Cambodian marketplace {long story} and the first thing you think of upon regaining consciousness, other than foggy *where am I* thoughts, is "oh wow this will be *amazing* for my story!"

~ when you stumble upon a crazy Christian fantasy forum {naming no names here, people} and you sit up and think ~ "wait, there are more creeps like me out there? I'm not aloooooone!" And then you sit up half the night hardly believing it, and checking every five minutes to make sure it doesn't vanish.

~ when you take horseback riding/fencing/rock climbing lessons to improve your descriptive skills for the next scene in your novel. And then you start to wonder how on earth people in legend could stay on horseback the entire day. Surely they weren't trotting/cantering the whole time??!

-when you have this conversation with your 9yo sister following a recent incident where you were caught acting out a scene:
Me: Can you imagine something?
Sister: I suppose so.
Me: Pretend you're an author.
Sister: O...kay.
Me: So, you have this character who is tied to a tree and everything around him is set fire. And you need to get a clear picture in your mind about what would happen. So you go to a tree in your backyard and pretend, screaming and fighting at the ropes and ... then your sister comes out of the back door and says "Elizabeth? Are you alright?" What do you say?
Sister: *sulkily* I don't know what you would say, but I thought you'd been tied to a tree by robbers or something. I just wanted to see if you were alright.
Me: I was.
Sister: Oh.

-when, after relating said conversation to your mother, she suggests that next time you tie yourself to a tree facing AWAY from the house, and you agree.

Hahaha! I love that, E.

You know you're a crazy fantasy writer when:
- you are known as the person-who-always-has-a-pen.
- you get super happy when you discover a satchel in a gift shop that fits your notebook perfectly!

-When your sister tells you that she saw a show where (in order to stop a cut from bleeding) a Marine put gun powder in the cut then set it on fire. You reply with a shocked squeal then pause and say... "I'm using that in my book. I couldn't figure out how I would kill [name is removed] now I just did, thank you, [name is removed]." ;)

When you see the earlier posts and wished you had experienced unconsciousness and even contemplate knocking yourself out

When you realize what you are thinking you wonder if you are crazy

And your automatic response is "Of course!"

When you don't think it's weird that you're having this conversation with yourself

Quite so.

And when you laugh merrily at various exotic methods of execution concocted by others of the same diabolic ilk.

Bwahahahaha.... a "like" system would be interesting, Emeth, but it really annoys me on FB since people can just say "I liked it" and nothing else. :P Thanks guys. :D

...You are slightly disappointed that when you find out when a person faints they're only out for about 30-60 seconds. Then you go and edit your story to make them "unconscious" instead. (I had a friend who had fainting spells.)

...When you realize ribbons don't work very well to tie your hair back because they're too slippery.

When you can't find a hair elastic so you put your hair up with a pencil instead because it's the only thing within reach.

When the fog rolling in over the hills could contain anything from evil pixies to flesh eroding acid.
