Well... normally the phrase is "viva la revolution," which is a rally for change. It was used originally during the Communist Revolution in Cuba. I don't know if that's where it started, but it was used there.

Now people use "viva la revolution" for other revolutions and changes, and they switch "revolution" for other words they want to live up. So "viva la alliteration" is more or less translated - "Wow! That's alliteration! You go girl!"

Viva la revolution is French, so my guess would be it started in *dun dun dun* France!
Viva has the same roots as our words like "revive" meaning to give life back. Essentially it means, "Long live the Revolution/Alliteration"

I think I've yet to read a "proper" manga, but I have read a couple of comics with the Japanese-ish kind of illustrations.

Thanks for that, Reiyen! I hadn't studied the origins of it, but it was used extensively in a fiction book about the Cuban revolution. So I appreciate the clarification!

Are you guys serious about wanting to start a manga project?

I might be able to find an artist but it'd have to be a good story. XD I don't have time to do the writing, either, I have way too many stories of my own, and a job starting on Wednesday.
