I am wondering if this is intentional in response to people's comments (including myself) that the old smilie looked a bit snarky or sarcastic.

I see the same old one (except in the pictures)

*chuckles * I wondered if anyone would notice. Brendan and I were talking to Jay today, and complained about the smilie. Being the wonderful Admin that he is, Jay promptly went about changing the smilie. It was a very difficult task, and Carissa and I got to see at least 8 different smilie versions before Jay settled on one.

It is intentional. And it seems the old smilies will remain as they were. So that is why some people have seen the new ones, and others are seeing the old ones. Sorry for the confusion, guys.

There goes my subtly menacing grin... what in the world shall I use now...

Okay, haha, I figured it out. Your browser's cache is preventing you from seeing the new ones. Because the new images have the exact same names as the old ones, it doesn't know the difference, and shows you the cached, old ones.

So you can either clear the whole cache for HW... or you can do what I did. Right click on the edited smiley image, click "Open image in new tab," then go reload the page that pops up. You should see the new one. Then all the smileys will be edited.

Interesting... On my browser it changed them automatically.

Same for mine.

Yep, it also depends on your settings too I think.

Nice. I particularly like the new smiley. The new normal smiling smiley is nice but it's so small (that just means I'll have to use all the more! )

I have about ten varieties of that smiley that I could add in with various text codes. Ask Duchess Daisy or Air. They helped me make 'em all trying to find a good one. Haha.

I actually wouldn't be averse to having more smileys in that sense. The problem would be that it would use up all the text codes, so all you could do would be the graphic smileys unless you turned them all off for your post.
