Ashrai - (Shakes his head as a wing smacks his face, then plants his hind paw between Meriak's shoulderblades, forcing her face into the dirt as he nicks her ear with the knife) Stop it. I'm getting tired, I might just put an end to your miserable life.

Ashrai - I'm Ananthi, "without soul and spirit". (eyes Mordir) Any closer, and Meriak is as good as gone.

Kai: You didn't even TRY to catch up this time!

Devon: *struggles* *sneers* You'd have a girl finish your battle? I'm not telling where it is! *traps Brian's leg with his own* *arches his back and flips Brian over* *lands straddling him* *uses his unhurt hand to start to choke Brian*

Me: I'm not sure if that was possible with his arms pinned. If not, just disregard it. It is a legitimate move, I'm just not sure if it works with one's arms pinned.

Skylar: *grimaces*
Julian: *looks uncertainly from Devon to Skylar* I said let him go! *steps forward*

Alexis: (@Emuna) I'm fine *smiles weakly* This isn't the first time I've run in with them.

Kai: Manda!!! Untie me!!

Me: *leans back and grin* Not yet.

Kai: *tries to shield his face as much as possible from Niarah's claws* This is not going to be a good day....

Me: Actually, I think the phrase you're looking for is "It's a good day to die."

Kai: You're gonna let her kill me??

Me: If you keep on being annoying.

Kai: Ouch.

Brian: *hands began to glow blue, he grasps Devon's wrists, making them have a small burning sensation, but nothing more*

Emuna: *Turns to see Devon and Brian* Does he honestly think he can win? *creates small glowing orb* It's like teaching a dog....*throws orb at Devon* Except he doesn't learn.

Brian: *Devon looses grip on Brian when orb hits him, uses his knee to kick Devon in the ribs, where Emuna's orb hit him.* *takes a deep breath* *rolls Devon over and stands up, keeping his foot on his broken ribs.*

Emuna: *turns back to Alexis* Anyways...Are you sure? Perhaps you should learn basic fighting skills. Shouldn't be too hard to defeat them. Doesn't look like they're the most genius fighters...

Me: I don't think insulting them helps much...

Emuna: No, not really, but it sure makes you feel better.

Me: Hey! That's my catchphrase!

Me: (@Amanda) *squeals* Is that quote from BBC Robin Hood?

Julian: (@Jay) H-h-help Brian? But that would be working against Devon! *shakes head vigorously* He told me to help Skylar. Let him go! Please?

Devon: *grimaces in pain* *grabs Brian's leg and twists so that Brian falls* *painfully leaps up and jumps on top of Brian in a side guard (so now the two bodies together look almost like a V, with their heads at the top of the V)* *reaches into his pocket and pulls out his switchblade* *puts it against Brian's neck and makes a small cut, drawing blood* *presses it against Brian's neck* You ready to surrender?

Alexis: (@Emuna) *smiles* I'm fine. I do know how to fight....with a rapier. Unfortunately it's not much help in modern times. Devon wouldn't be caught dead using one, even though he can to some degree, and Skylar doesn't even know which end is which.
Skylar: *grits teeth in pain* I do too!

Me: Do these switchblades just come out of thin air?

Brian: No. *grimaces and manages to grab a pen hidden in his pocket. Knees Devon in the chest. Presses pen against Devon's windpipe, hard.* I'm pretty sure I could make you pass out before you killed me...

Emuna: *turns to Brian and Devon* I might have to help him out...but I doubt it.

Me: Why?

Emuna: He's not exactly amateur.

Me: But...neither is Devon.

Mordir: [Stops] I wouldn't suggest killing her.... they would find out, and then you'd have them all to deal with.

Me: You fail at sounding mysterious.

Mordir: No, you fail.

Me: I know, but I'm blaming it on you.

Meriak: [Snarls into the dirt. Twists when Ashrai is distracted and kicks him in the chest to push him off] You will pay dearly for threatening a Meriak! [Wings unfurl as she watches Ashrai] But... I admit.... I have never encountered one who does not break down in their fear.

Seymour: Your powers of inducing fear do not work here, child of shadow.

Tounon: Why is it they have such cool names like that? And us humans get... just, human? I mean, there's Luvarians, Meriak, Verian.

Tesmir: But Elves and Dwarves are the same. Except if they're a Dragon Keeper.

Rune: [Starts forward at Tesmir, slicing diagonally downward, but misses, and uses his speed and brings his sword up at Tanner in an upward diagonal slash]

Tesmir: [Jumps back, drawing his blade] Hey! You didn't give us a fair warning!

Rune: Doesn't matter. You weren't focusing. Your opponent won't tell you when they're going to attack.

Chayn: [Grunts in annoyance and lifts her wing] You humans make a lot of noise for being so small.

Rowen: [Bows his head] I will look forward to the day when we fly again.

Mordir: [Pretends to gag]

Me: [Hits him with a dictionary]

Mordir: [Staggers backward] I was kidding! [To Pirzak] Well, we could start by freeing up our companions. They seem to have gotten themselves into more trouble.

Me: Wait, Rahor died? When?

Seymour: Some post you most likely only skimmed over.

Me: Thank you, Seymour. Everything is so much clearer now.

Sylvia - (trying to remain anonymous) Yes, the snow leopard died. Kai killed him . . . I think . . .

Niarah - (Savagely slashing at Kai) You. Will. Die!

Me - Someone get her before she does something stupid!

Thysal - Too late.

(A white tiger appears from nowhere and tackles Niarah, pulling her away from Kai)

Me - Thank you, Traxus.

Traxus - (Renders Niarah unconcious with a well aimed tap behind her ear) What on earth did you do to her???

Me - I didn't do it!

Ashrai - (rolls away, springing to his paws) Live, then. Another death is nothing. (Glances at Niarah and Traxus) It doesn't hurt me like it does them. So, what are you going to do to me, shadow creature? I'm curious.

Zanya - (watches Mordir get hit by the dictionary) Nice shot, Author Aris.

Thysal - Ya think???

Me: (@Beth) No. Alexis warned Brian earlier that Devon had one, and then it was never found and taken away, or anything, so it was still in his pocket.

Devon: *pushed himself up so that the pen is no longer digging into his neck* *grunts at the pain in his ribs* *lowers himself down again beside where the pen was* *makes another, deeper cut on Brian's neck* *sneers* You could suffocate me faster, huh? I could kill you in two cuts. *presses knife hard against Brian's neck*
Alexis: *hands fly to mouth* *watches concernedly*

Me: (@Beth)Can I give you a suggestion? The pen was a good idea, but it was fairly easy for Devon to get away from. Also, it would have ruptured his windpipe, and I don't think that's the fastest way to suffocation. What you really want to do is block off the two major veins on either side of his neck, because that will make him suffocate quickly. If Brain took the arm that's closest to Devon's head, threaded it between Devon's arm and neck and put him in a headlock, he would quickly suffocate. It would also be very difficult for him to get away.

Julian: (@Jay) How should I know? I'm not in his head.

Me: Yes, I did hear about the switchblades...just didn't expect him to take it out of seemingly no where. Thanks for the suggestion. I'll try something like that...since I don't want to do word for word what you said and than not end up being original...so let's try this.

Brian: *grimaces and bite tongue* *frowns*

Emuna: *watches quietly, clenching fist*

Me: I told him not to get involved...

Brian: Thanks for the support, Beth. *grabs Devon's wrist* Means a lot... *twist Devon's arm, dislocating his shoulder. Grabs switch blade from his hand and pulls hand behind Devon's back, twists tighter. Wraps leg around Devon's, puts him in loose chokehold, keeping the knife close to his neck.* How fast do you suppose I could end you? *tightens hold* One or two cuts?...all depends, I suppose...

Emuna: *lets out breath* *scowls at me*

Me: Hey! Don't give me that look!

Me: *tries to visualize* That works

Devon: *face contorts at the pain* *starts to suffocate* *face begins to get a blue tinge* *tries to say something but can't*

Brian: *loosens grip slightly so Devon can talk* Speak.

Emuna: I can't believe you're letting him do this! Are you insane?

Me: *holds hand up* Not insane...crazy fantasy writer. And why thank you, yes I am.

Emuna: And you wonder why your Charries rebel!

Me: Indeed I do...

Devon: *gasps for breath* *eyes gleam* *shakes head* *gasps some more* You. Win. This. Time. *gasps* But. I'll. Make. You. *gasps* PAY!

*A tall man in a long cloak strides silently in, looks around at all the carnage, draws a sword from under his cloak*

Him: Cease this foolish bickering. Let the girl speak.

Mahlia: Thank you, Davien. Hi, everybody, I'm Mahlia. I'm thirteen. I have lived in a remote Great Forest village for most of my life, until I noticed that I looked different from the other villagers, even my family. I have dark eyes, dark skin, and this crazy, long, black, curly hair. Everyone else has straight blond hair. Well, anyway, I finally found out that I'm actually adopted, from a hated race. Tensions in the village got so high, that I ran away. That's when I met Davien.
I am quiet, talking more with people I am familiar with. But I can react well in a crisis.

Davien: She's remarkably courageous.

Mahlia: Not as much as you, sir!

Davien: She thinks I'm some sort of hero.

Mahlia: Davien, you saved my life! More than once! You are amazing!

Davien: I just try to protect you. It's my duty.

Mahlia: You are also humble.

Davien: But truly, I am not worthy of your admiration.

Brian: *scowls and tightens hold for a second before letting go* *stands up and stares at Devon* Good luck with that revenge thing. It always works out well in the end. *wipes blood off neck*

Me: Thanks. You where good too, even sly Devon.

Emuna: *runs up to Brian* Are you okay?

Brian: *looks at bloody hand* Perfect.

Sylvia - (walks over to greet the newcomers) Welcome, Mahlia and Davien. I admire your bravery for daring to come in here. I'm Sylvia, a human, this is my friend Zanya, a Felanai. Ember is my dragon, he's still little.

Zanya - You call this carnage? Really?

Sylvia - I do!

Zanya - (Shrugs)

Traxus - (Lays the unconcious Niarah on the floor and walks over to Kai) I'm a peacekeeping warrior. You alright?

Thysal - Whoa. First Niarah goes insane, and now Klasina is furious. (Paces, unsure of herself)

Me - (trying to figure out a way to defuse the situation) Erm . . .

Sylvia - All I can say is, I'm thankful that the felines aren't from my story.

Ember - (squawks, and scampers away from the arguing)

Traxus - (Places his paw in front of Klasina) Relax, maid, we can work this out somehow.

Ashrai - "Somehow" I don't think that's going to help.

Thysal - You're no help! (Continues pacing)

Traxus - Enough with the pacing!

Thysal - (Curls her claws under her, watching everyone with worried silver eyes)

Mahlia: Well, I knew that Davien could protect me from anything.

Davien: You overestimate me. I have never even seen a great cat before. *keeps his sword at the ready*

Mahlia: Oh, and I forgot to mention, Davien and I are both totally human.

Davien: Of course. *swipes dull blond hair out of eyes* What else would we be?

Mahlia: Dragons?

Davien: No, no. Anything but that.

Devon: *laboriously gets up* *one arm and one hand hang limp* *glares darkly at Brian* All I'll say is...watch your back. *turns to me* Um, maybe a little fixing here?
Me: No.
Devon: Then-
Me: No, I won't get your switchblade back, either. I'm not fixing any of anyone's mistakes in here. The only mistake I'll fix is if you die.

Alexis: *waves happily* Hello, Davien and Mahila!

Me: I think it's time to get some more good characters in here. A 3:1 bad-good ratio isn't very good.

*door opens and a tall young man steps in, followed by a shorter, shy-looking teen-age girl*

Alexis: *squeals* *runs over and hugs them both* Everyone, this is my cousin Martin, and my best friend Natalie!
Martin and Natalie: Hi.
Natalie: *looking at Devon and Skylar* What happened to them?
Alexis: You don't want to know.
Natalie: You're right, I don't. This is looking violent already. *worried look*

Gavin: *waves at new Charries* Hello, everybody new. Feel free to beat up Brian. It's free beat up Brian day.

Emuna: *scowls at Gavin* You listen here, Gavin. If you say one more word I-

Brian: *places hand on Emuna's shoulder* It's fine. *grimaces when he turns head* I should've thought that through.

Emuna: *worried* You should sit down.

Brian: *smiles* I'm in perfect health, thank you, though.

Gavin: *crosses arms* I bet I would've beaten up Devon without getting a scratch...you're just weak.

Brian: *ignores Gavin*

Natalie: *shy smile* *worried* No one's going to beat me up, right?
Alexis: *hugs* Don't worry, dear. *encouraging smile*

Alexis: (@Brian) *walks over and puts her hand on his arm to get his attention* *concerned* Are you sure you're all right? Devon isn't exactly gentle with his knife. I know.

Emuna: Don't worry Natalie...I'm certain me and Brian won't let anyone hurt you...That is the very reason that he got into this mess in the first place.

Gavin: *mumbles* not that he would have gotten out of it if a girl hadn't helped him.

Emuna: *glares at Gavin* You're lucky I don't start shooting holes in you right now.

Brian: *grimaces as he turns to look at Alexis* *smiles* Yes, ma'am. I believe I am perfectly fine. Just a little scratch. Should heal up just fine. *touches neck*

Emuna: *sigh* He never admits when he's hurt...just like a stubborn soldier.

Me: If I recall correctly, Emuna. You, yourself, are a stubborn soldier.

Alexis: Little scratch! *makes disbelieving noise* See what he left me? *shows him a long, thin scar on her neck* Now, I'm no nurse, but I can at least wash and bandage that. So sit down, please.

Brian: *looks at Alexis' scar* I would scream at him for that...but I think I'll call a temporary truce for now...*sits down* While I still think I am fine..

Emuna: *looks at Brian's neck* You are not fine. Stop saying that.

Brian: *chuckles*

Me: Figures he would get two charries trying to make him admit he's hurt...the one thing Brian would never do.

Alexis: *leaves briefly and comes back with what she needs* Natalie? Want to help?
Natalie: *comes over* *looks like she's going to faint*
Alexis: Never mind. Go sit down.
Natalie: I'm sorry Brian, it's nothing to do with you. I just can't stand the sight of blood. *hurries away*

Alexis: *quickly washes the wound and applies antiseptic* *puts on a dressing and wraps gauze around Brian's neck* *gives him ibuprofen* Now you stay still for a while. *no nonsense look*

Brian: Thank you, Miss Alexis. I will try to stay still so as not to prove your efforts fruitless.

Emuna: I doubt he'll stay still...

Brian: Why is that?

Emuna: Because Beth just told me what Gavin is going to say ne-

Emuna: *shakes head at Brian* If you move me and Alexis will have to tie you to a chair.

Brian: *chuckles* Than I suppose it'll bode best for me to stay still...even if Gavin goes about challenging every well-trained and armed man within a hundred mile radius.

Devon: (@Davien) *innocent look* Not particularly. Swords are better than switchblades?

Meriak: [Watches Ashrai] I don't know. Killing you would take too much work, and I've apparently been deprived of my ability. [Stands, letting her wings furl gently to her sides] I will cease fighting you. For now. But I will return. [Turns to Kaida] I think you wanted... a duel, you call it?

Seymour: [Looks at Davien and Mahlia] Hello.

Me: That's all you can say? Hello?

Seymour: What more is there to be said? Weren't you going to be detailing my staff?

Me: Later. Not now. Go socialize!

Seymour: I'm not the socializing type. Unlike those three [Nods to Aris and Cassie and Tesmir] who seem to have no problem mingling.

Me: Trina, You've had that dagger up to now 3 different villains' necks. In 3 posts...

Julian: *eyes open wide in fear* *face goes pasty* *stutters* O-o-o-k. *is genuinely scared*

Me: *unties and heals Kai*

Kai: *goes over to Klasi* Hey, Klasi, it's alright now! See? *hugs her*

Klasina: *sobs on Kai's shoulder*

Kai: Ugh.

Me: You can't be an assassin all the time, ya know...

Kai:

Me: Klasi, are you going to stop hunting down Niarah now?

Klasi: *sob* Yes..
