This actually kind of creeps me out when I read it. Here's the clip from my glossary.

Necromancy: There is only one level in necromancy, which is sometimes combined with, and considered the sixth level of, sorcery. However, there are two parts to it. The first part is to contact demons, although this is sometimes made part of the fifth level of sorcery. The second, and main, part of necromancy is the ability to raise the dead (actually, a demon or two possess the corpse). Necromancy has been banned in many countries, but is still practiced in secret. Though necromancy is often combined with sorcery, it can be learned without training in anything else (and some do learn a crude form of it).

That is kinda creepy. I'm assuming that people who practice necromancy are evil?

What exactly do you mean by necromancy? Communication with demonic spirits, re-animating dead bodies?

Yes. In my world, most people believe that it is the communication with and the raising of the dead. However, it is actually the communication with demons, and the re-animation of bodies using demon possession.
Note: I have not put this in my stories yet, because I want to work it in in such a way that the evilness of it and the misconceptions surrounding it are apparent.

That makes sense.

It is very important to do that. Actually, an interesting idea is to cross-teach. Allow the reader to think something is one way, then show them it is the other way. If you have a problem with people raising the dead (and I'm assuming that in this context you do) then it makes sense to show it this way, sense most of the people in your world feel the same way about that most readers of fantasy do.

Very nice! It sounds totally creepy and evil. Just one question, When they make contact with the demons, do they become demon-possessed? It seems kinda hard to believe that they aren't overwhelmed by the demons. It would make even creepier if the demons started eating at the persons soul when the tried to summon them.

Yes. It opens up the option of showing how evil things (demons, magic, etc.) cannot be controlled, and will eventually destroy those who try.

That is a possibility, although it would have to be a very powerful demon.
