Here is a clip from my glossary. I am putting these here because they are called a type of monster, but the erydoni are semi-sentient creatures, so they might possibly belong in the Peoples, Races, and Tribes section.

Erydoni: (pronounced ear-ih-DOE-nee) A race of monsters that live in the Zanya Mountains*. They have six inch razor sharp claws, long sharp teeth and two fangs that come down over their lower lip. Their build resembles something between a human and a large cat. Each is covered in thin, wispy fur, and has a long tail that starts out thick and quickly comes to a thin point with a furry tassel at the end. The worst thing about them is the fact that they can hardly be seen. They are creatures of the air and are almost completely transparent. They have feathery wings that are less visible than a dragonfly’s. They can drop from the air without making a sound. They are a savage race. They have made tribes, though some families leave and live in one or more of the caves that cover the Zanya Mountains. But not many try to make it on their own; other tribes of erydoni that live all through the Zanya Mountains will kill them if the family of nomads is found. Singular: Erydonii.

Wow, that sounds awesome. :D

Are they just beast or are they sentient? Plus, do they have a language?

*sigh* You change your book so fast I can't keep up with it! LOL! But it DOES sound AWESOME! And I ditto Griffin's question.

Thank you. Um, I think they might be semi-sentient, as in, they are cleverer than most animals, and have better memory-ability, but they are far from the level of humans, although they might have a rudimentary language (I haven't worked as much on their mental abilities as I have on their killing abilities, since the killing is what pertains to my book, for now).
Thanks for reading my post!

p.s. Sorry, Mindy! I've had a flash of brilliance and realized that a lot of my stuff needs re-doing.

Yes. Erydoni attack is one of the main causes of death for the people who live in villages near the Zanya mountains. In fact, "zanya" is the elvish word for "blood". Actually, one of my MC's father was killed by and erydoni in front of her when she was four (my MC's have very difficult lives, but I usually try to give them good endings).

How did your MC escape if her father was killed?

The setting is a mountain valley. There is a farmhouse, where my MC, Autumn, lives. Behind it is a large field. Running alongside the field is a creek with trees and some undergrowth surrounding it. When Autumn's father was killed, he was working in the field, and she was hiding in the bushes by the creek, witnessing everything and being traumatized.

That would be terrible, watching your dad get mauled and you can't do anything! :(

Very interesting, Elestar, are these creatures feline? Like cat men or something?

Yes. They are built rather feline, but also have some slightly humanoid-features. The face, for example, looks slightly human (apart from the nose and the four-inch fangs), and their front paws almost have fingers (underneath the six-inch talons). They can also stand on their hind legs for moments at a time. And, of course, they have feathery wings (like an owl's) and are clear, see-through. Their favorite way of killing prey (usually humans) is to drop down from above, tear out the victim's throat, and then carry it off to their mountain home. I like making monsters. Thanks to everyone who's read this!

Thank you. Yes, they are somewhat feline in form. They are clear, not invisible. I'm working on a drawing of them, which I will try to post here soon (if it turns out alright).

What do you mean by feline form?

Furry, whiskers, cat-like legs, I can't remember what the tail looks like (I did an earlier drawing to get an idea of their form, but it's not good at all). They actually had a face with more of a snout than a cat has. Also lean, like a cat.
