Spore trees: Produced during an experiment gone wrong by a spagyric by the name of Almric.
Large vine like plants with large globe or bulb shaped flowers from which the wind will carry thousands of tiny spores. These spores can grow in ANY warm moist areas... Including the human throat and lungs. Masks must be worn when venturing through the forests as it is nearly impossible to remove every spore when inhaled. They start growing within the first two hours and the result is death by suffocation. Often in these forests beneath the spreading fronds of young spore trees there will be the skeletal remains of some small woodland creature or humans, vines climbing gracefully from their mouths and chests.

Thunder herb: Found growing in sheltered areas of active volcanoes. The roots absorb the sulferic minerals from the volcanic soil and concentrate it. The roots when dried and properly treated are highly explosive. Prized very highly by alchemists.

Healing hands: Low growing herbs similar to cinquefoil. They have five main leaves (hence the hands) and are used mainly for staunching bleeding. Although a herbal tea from the dried leaves can and will aid in the resistance of disease.

These sound great.
How is it that the spore trees don't take over everything and kill everyone?

They were mainly released atop the plateau where Almric was performing his experiment. Though deadly, they are a fragile plant as in where they can survive. Altitude plays the biggest role in determining whether the plant develops into it's spore bearing maturity. Anywhere else it simply grows into it's "Adolescent stage" and stays there. Though the adolescent stage is still enough to suffocate you.

Almric did however accidentaly release them on the only path to and from his place of residence. No one can reach his home and survive without a mask.

Resin Trees: Native to Thoshyer, these large ancient conifers secret large amounts of a highly valuable resin which when treated properly can be molded and hardened into armor, arrows, blades, hammer heads, pottery and for the very rich of this continent, even boats.

But the Resin trees most legendary use is for the bows of Thoshyer's bipedal avian inhabitants. The Shrok'glids. Though birds, they have lost the ability to fly over the years, but are quite the adept when it come to gliding.

Only a Shrok'glid has the strength to draw a bow of resinwood. For it has the backs of three bows all intersecting at the handle. Capable of firing three arrows at once, not as accurately as one at a time, but still devastatingly powerful.

Anywhere from mere sprouts to large enough to support Shrok'glid villages. The larger predators of this continent prevent them from doing much on the ground.

I love ginormous trees where you can build villages! ;) :D

The flora in your world may be odd, but it is very intriguing all the same. The spore trees would create a great scene with your characters, I would like to see how that would play out.

You could have an explosives nut/expert who is constantly playing with the Thunder plant. That would make for a fun character.

I already do, his name is Almric. He is a crazy old man type character. (Modeled after the old man in AFFF) Who is of an old order of ancient scientists who used their knowledge in past ages to mystify the peoples in exchange for power and their fear. Now they're seen as eccentrics with crazy theories. Like strange weapons called Shot-tubes which can fire a hail of pebbles with the aid of Thunder herb powder.
