And this is my attempt of a character sketch that did not just magically pop into my mind. I actually had to think about it while I was writing  Anywho, I mentioned I'd be doing character sketches for Brian & Gavin, so here is the one for Brian. I hope you enjoy it!

-----

I am a warrior of the town of Realta and my name is Brian. It means strong man, my parents picked it out for the meaning since I was chosen to be a soldier from birth. My father was a commander in the army when I was born and my grandfather fought in the wars until his death 5 years before my birth and so I am to carry on the tradition, whether or not I want to.

Since I was 10 years old I began learning of the ways of war, until than I had been taught small bits of grammar, history, and geography. Most young men do not continue with their studies when they begin training for battle, but I did. Especially geography, I find interest in studying the lands far beyond, though we are forbidden to cross past the mountains. My father does not approve in my fascination of the "weak man's arts" as he calls them, he thinks they are...well...for weak men. My mother's opinion is not spoken, but I know she secretly is proud of her "smart little boy". She isn't aloud to call me that in front of my father, though, because it will result in a lecture of how I am a "warrior" and not a "little boy".

The problem I have is, I have disappointed my father. I went into battle for the first time when I was 15, I was gone for a week fighting for what is ours. To be entirely honesty, I did not take joy in it, despite the opinions of everyone that I was good at it. Though, the battle isn't what pried me to make the decision to tell my father I did not want to be a soldier. When I came home my younger sister had fallen ill and, at the age of 7, passed away, not 1 hour before I came back. I suppose I could get into the science of my choice, that I blame myself or whatever it is my mother tries to convince me out of, but I don't wish to. I only tell you this because I would like to state that I have not gone into battle since.

I am 16 now and I am yet to march off into another battle. I still carry my sword with me and go on the occasional hunting trip to assist in catching a hare, but not battle. My father is disappointed in me and has not treated me the same since I turned down the family tradition, it doesn't really matter to me though since I knew the instant I picked up a geography scroll that I would not live to my father's expectations.

As for my mother, she seems to be satisfied with me doing "whatever my heart desires". Indeed I do just that, I enjoy going to the elders and speaking with them about legends foretold about the uncharted lands. But do not be fooled, despite my lack in official battle training, I can still hold myself in battle if necessary, Gavin made a mistake of underestimating my skills once, but that it a whole other story.

-----

Just a little description of what he looks like: he has dirty blond hair and hazel eyes.

Well, I hope you enjoyed reading. Thanks!

Bethany Faith

Yup! He's oddly optimistic despite his current situation.

That was an optimistic statement... Sorry, I couldn't resist.

Hrm. He does sound like a good fellow. :D

Beth, would you like a bit of interaction with some other characters? It would be like the Character Introductions, but less intimidating (hopefully!) I could bring in a few of mine, if you wish... I find it helps me develop them further. :)

Yup, my good fellow Brian. Haha, he turned out nicer than expected, I might have to make him end up fighting with somebody.

Sure! You can start I suppose since I have absolutely no idea how to start that sort of thing. (the main reason why I haven't posted in Character Introductions) :)

Here goes... :D

Dani: "What? Where are we?"

Aryn: "We're in another one of those rooms where we talk to other characters, so be polite, please."

Dani: "I'll be good."

Aryn: *bows to Brian* "It is a pleasure to meet you. I am Aryn Kandra, and this-" *motions to Dani* "-is my sister, Dani."

Dani: *smiles*

Me: "Oh, Aryn has wavy dark hair and blue eyes, and Dani has short-ish curly brown hair and blue eyes."

Dani: "And I have freckles." :P

Aryn: "So, Brian, what do you most appreciate about geography?"

Okay, *tries to think about what to write*...

Brian: Hello, Aryn and Dani. It is a pleasure to meet you. *bows slightly* to answer Aryn's question, I appreciate all aspects of geography who could pick only one to favorite?

Me: Hey! Can I throw Emuna in here too?

Me: "Go for it!"

Dani: "Yes! Another girl! No offense intended..."

Aryn: "You have an excellent point there. Have you drawn your own maps?"

Me: "Figuring out what to say is rough at first..."

Me: "Okay, let's see how this goes..."

Brian: "I tried my hand a few times at drawing maps, but our people do not know much of mapping, most of their geographical knowledge is from local folklore."

Emuna: "Folklore which is true."

Brian: "Hello, Emuna. Meet Aryn and Dani."

Emuna: "Salutations Aryn and Dani."

Me: "Dani, don't do something..."

Dani: *looks at me* "Hello, Emuna."

Aryn: *dips his head* "Greetings."

Dani: "I understand you can wield a weapon, Emuna? I can throw daggers." *small smile*

Me:  "My characters can get out of hand sometimes..." *warning glance*

Dani: "Hey, I said I'd be good!"

Aryn: "That's quite impressive. I have a bit of a head for maps as well, unlike my author."

Me: :P "My apologies, I'm not too much of an expert on maps..."

Aryn: "So, do you enjoy traveling and seeing the different places in your world?"

Emuna: "Hi, Dani."

Me: "I have limited knowledge of maps, but it's enough."

Brian: "I would travel, but it is forbidden to go past the mountains, for fear of legends of creatures that live in their caves. So I satisfy my travel by wandering through the forest."

Emuna: "Indeed daggers are wonderful weapons, Aryn. Though, I tend to prefer a bow and arrow and daggers are my choice if I need to get close to a foe."

Me: "I think my characters are oddly mature...at least these two are."

Brian: "Are you referring to Gavin?"

Emuna: "Oh, he's a pest."

Brian: "Emuna, you're going to get punished if you speak of him that way."

Emuna: "Well, he is..."

Me: "Sorry, I brought it up."

Dani: "It's a pleasant thing to meet another girl who can see the value of-"

Aryn: *elbows her and raises his eyebrow*

Dani: "Uh... daggers."

Aryn: *shakes his head* "She talks a lot. Who is this 'Gavin'?"

Me: "You probably wouldn't get along with him very well."

Dani: "Oh."

Brian: "Gavin is umm..."

Emuna: "Annoying? Selfish? In need of a good lesson?"

Brian: *shoots a glare at Emuna* "No, he's the chief's...eccentric son."

Emuna: "There's a word for him..." *mumbles*

Me: "Nobody really gets along well with Gavin."

Brian: "Especially, Emuna."

Emuna: "I...yah you're right I don't get along with him."

Dani: "From what I've read, that describes him pretty well."

Aryn: *elbows her*

Dani: "What? Why can't you say anything about him?"

Aryn: "I give up. You just will get in trouble."

Dani: *grimace* "I don't think I'd get along with him either."

Me: "They're at it again."

Brian: "This might turn into a problem."

Emuna: "It will not, I have self control."

Brian: "I didn't say you didn't."

Emuna: "You're right you implied that I didn't."

Brian: "No I didn't."

Emuna: "Change topic?"

Brian: "Certainly."

Emuna: "Dani, what is your weapon of choice?"

Brian: "Really? We couldn't talk about something less violent."

Emuna: "It's not that bad."

Aryn: "It is rather violent..."

Dani: "We aren't going into detail. Well, Emuna, I throw knives and daggers, and I have some experience with the sword. Archery isn't exactly my forte..."

Aryn: "Kachel is good at it..."

Dani: *glares* "Yes, she's good at lots of things."

Me: "Should I-"

Dani: "No, don't. Not right now."

Me: "Okay..."

Aryn: "I don't have any training, thanks to my author."

Me:  "Right now you have no way you could get any training."

Dani: "Do you want to see what my dagger looks like, Emuna?"

Brian: "Aryn, agree's this is a violent subject.

Emuna: "So talk amongst yourselves."

Brian: "Fine. Aryn, Who is this Kachel?"

Emuna: "Throwing daggers is a challenge, it takes much talent. I find it impressing. I would enjoy seeing your dagger, Dani."

He sounds like a cool character, Faith!

Do y'all care if my charries join the conversation? It's okay if they can't; I don't want to overwhelm you with characters. ;)

Me: Great! Well, here they are:

*Two characters walk in. One, a young lady, has long, red hair, and hazel eyes. The other, a young man, has bright green eyes, and shoulder-length blonde hair, which is pulled back in a ponytail. Their names are Kyra and Rhain.*

Kyra: Young lady? Really?

Rhain: *snickers* I, for one, would not describe you as a "young lady". More like a stuck-up, fiery-tempered...

Me: Rhain! You aren't supposed to be that rude!

Rhain: You're the author.

Kyra: Yeah, you'd think she'd have a little bit more control over us.

Me:  You guys are supposed to be interacting with the other characters... so interact.

Rhain: (sarcastically) Yes ma'am!

Kyra: *looks over posts* Oh, you throw daggers, Dani? I have tried to train myself in that art before, though I am more talented with the sword.

Rhain: And I am most comfortable with the bow and arrow.

*Another character pops in, and reads the whole topic*

Ellias: Greetings, I am Ellias.

Me: *smacks forehead and mumbles something about her charries being disobedient*

Ellias: Anyway, it is quite nobel of you to put away the sword as you have, Brian. I have similar feelings on battle, and so I became a bard: a teller of stories. I hope that my tales will...

Kyra:  We should get out of here, or else he could go on for ages.

Me: Agreed. *hits submit*

Brian: "Greetings, Kyra, Rhain, and Ellias." *bows slightly* "Pleasure to meet you."

Emuna: "Hello, everybody who just entered. Nice to meet you."

Me: "Oh, Brian didn't entirely lay down his sword. Did you Brian?"

Brian: "Why would you bring that up? The very thing that upsets me."

Me: "Don't know, just wanted to. And Emuna wouldn't say it. So I did."

Brian: "It's the past, and as I've mentioned the past is..."

Emuna: "What shapes our future and is to be studied with great perseverance?"

Brian: "Yes, but I also said."

Emuna: "Filled with mistakes, challenges, and victories alike?"

Brian: "Yes, but what I'm about to say,"

Emuna: "Never go into battle until 30 minutes after you've eaten?"

Brian: "Yah-I didn't say that."

Emuna: "Really? Maybe it was our author, than."

Me: "Don't look at me, Emuna said it."

Brian: "On a different note..."

Emuna: "Rhain, I too prefer the bow and arrow...though I think I have already stated that."

Dani: *snort* "Authors do all kinds of things like that. Well, ours does. She always-" :x

Aryn: "Wow. How do you do that?"

Me: "It's a gift." *nudges Aryn*

Aryn: "Oh, my apologies. Hello, Kyra, Rhain, and Ellias. I'm Aryn, and this is my sister Dani."

Dani: "Hello."

*a girl with thick red wavy hair and brown eyes walks in* "Hello, all. I'm Kachel."

Me: *grumble mumble* "They don't listen, do they?"

Dani: "No, we don't really..."

Kachel: *snort* "That's for certain."

Aryn:

Dani: "I do indeed, Kyra."

Brian: "Pleasure to meet you Kachel."

Emuna: "Hi, Kachel. And what would your preferred weapon be?"

Brian: "Is that how you greet people how days?"

Emuna: "No!"

Brian: "Must I qoute?"

Emuna: "No, you must not."

Brian: "Glad you see my side of things."

Emuna: *pouts*

Kachel: "Preferred weapon? Well, I'd say that I'm most proficient with a bow and arrows, but I don't enjoy fighting that much."

Me: "She's my 'words of wisdom' character, so to speak."

Kachel: "Hardly."

Dani: "Yes, you are."

Kachel: *pinks and gives a warm, embarrassed smile*

Aryn: "Well..."

Me: "Uh..."

Dani: "Does anyone want to have a competition?"

Aryn: "No!"

Brian: *pokes Emuna* "Told you, not everybody is as violent as you think."

Emuna: "Fine... What kind of competition?" :D

Brian: "Uh-oh."

Me: "Competition can be healthy."

Brian: "Not if you're competing with Emuna..."

Me: "Perhaps."

*Me & Brian stare at Emuna*

Emuna: "What?" *innocent face*
