For lack of maps, this will have to do for now to help you orient yourself with my world. :D

There are only two known continents, and a couple of insignificant islands. The second continent lies north of the first, like Antarctica on the north pole and a little bit bigger. The second is divided by a mountain range that runs north to south. This mountain range is nearly impassable, and quickly becomes the haunt of dragons, black wizards, and all manner of evil. Therefore nobody makes the attempt to cross it. This keeps the two races ignorant of each other for considerable time.

The larger half of the continent is on the West, while the smaller half is on the east. The western half is the mortal world, and behaves very like you'd expect a world to behave after the fall of an empire similar to Rome. (Culturally they're very different, sociologically(if that's the correct term), they're very similar.) Kingdoms change, and fight, and it's in general very unstable. Some of the major kingdoms/houses are:

Ramoth
Tamara
Trecharch
Rivanek

The kingdoms on the northern coastline controlled a great deal of the trade on the northern sea. There were numerous small kingdoms scattered along the foot of the mountains, generally ignored by the higher powers. Some went into mining and became respectably wealthy, all were considered strange.

East of the mountains, Yen became the seat of Tell after the liberation and the dawn of the second age. Yen was also a mountain kingdom, and the smallest of all the Elleysian kingdoms. Most trade and travel was conducted via the Telyenth sea, a small inland sea around which all the kingdoms were grouped. The further from Yen the less control the heirs of Tell had directly over their rulers, but all were bound by the land-law. Some of the larger kingdoms were the distant and "wild" ones, who built their own empire, oblivious to typical Elleysian politics.

The southern mortal kingdoms are much warmer and desert like. Major rivers and landmarks are on my list of things to develop, especially for the easter side.

I don't like using the term Mortal World, but I can't seem to come up with another. It was a term used by the Elloi, who were at first immortal. Most terms and names are Elleysian in origin.

He tried to formulate a name, to ask, but language was meaningless, and words would not come. He tried to scream but the sound got stuck in his heart, shattered into a million pieces, and scattered to the wind.

In a world without superheroes, who will stand against the forces of evil?
