Greetings,

I am sure that a lot of you would like to publish things on the HW blog, and I can assure you that I want you to as well. I have several ideas of what I want posted, and I would like to share some of those ideas with you, as well as how you are to do them.

There are two methods for getting stuff posted on the blog: via proposal and via entry.

The difference is simple: you can either propose a post or series, and get it approved before actually writing and submitting the article, or you can just post it in the submissions room and work with it there, forgoing the proposal part.

If you are wanting to do a series, always post a proposal in here first, for me to approve, then start posting the submissions in the submissions subforum. Single entries can be simply submitted without bothering with a proposal, but a proposal can save you time and tears if it needs major tweaking in the subject. :)

A proposal must include a premise (a sentence or so outlining your goal and focus for the article or series), a statement of your level of commitment (how dedicated are you to seeing the writing through), a synopses of the proposed content (what exactly are you going to be talking about and to what degree), and a proposed length for the submission.

The blog is open for submissions of short fantasy fiction writing, serial fantasy fiction, articles on writing in general, articles on fantasy writing specifically, reviews of fantasy books, and reviews of writing and fantasy writing resources. For now that is about all that I want. If there are any other ideas, questions, or suggestions, please feel free to let me know.

With joy and peace in Christ,
Jay Lauser aka Sir Emeth Mimetes

So, we can post some of our short fantasy stories?

Yes you can. Aim for about 1000-2500 words. They need to be self-contained or in a series. They will also be subject to extensive critique and review by the other forum members before they will be posted.

Oooh! Serial fantasy fiction! I can give you some of that....someday. In addition to Cruthu, I'm also working on The Masked Bird. I'm doing it as a serial on my blog. It's a twist on the Robin Hood legend from the Sheriff of Nottingham's daughter's point of view. I don't have time right now for the major editing that would need to be done to post it, but maybe in the summer? It would end up being a long series, though. Up to you, Jay! I won't be offended if you say no. :)

Actually, I might have time...if you don't mind if it's not weekly.

Princess Iylde,

It does not have to be weekly. If you pm me the password, I will review what you have there on the blog, and get back to you. If it looks good, you can use the Revision Folder to edit it.

Jay,

I'm really sorry, but I will have to take back my offer to post The Masked Bird on the Holy Worlds blog. Of the two books I'm working on, I think that one will have the most chance of ever being published. I didn't realize before that posting it on blogs would make publishers unwilling to accept it. I'm really sorry about that!

For the future reference of those who are published on the blog, what rights does Holy World acquire?

Non-exclusive, retractable, permission to post the content on the HW blog or in the forums at our discretion, on the condition that you let us know where else it is posted.

In other words, you let us post 'em on the blog and the forums, and you get to post it wherever else you want or ask us to remove it. We want to know where else it is posted, though, because we might want to remove it from our site if it is posted somewhere we don't want to be associated with, or for SEO purposes. You retain ownership of it and the copyright. :)

That's simple enough. Thanks.

An important note:

Posts on the blog are non-exclusively and non-attributively Holy Worlds's, meaning that you can post them other places without linking back to HW if you don't want to. We would appreciate it if you let us know when you do, though, so we know where else it is. This isn't a legally binding agreement, just a favor that we ask. :)
