2. If we were to meet at the Creation Museum I think it should be a two day event (for the same reason). We would need to meet and fellowship together the first day. Then we could enter the museum as a group the next morning, split up to do the museum with whomever, meet and eat lunch together and split up again (with whomever else) for the afternoon.

3. If possible we should combine the skype idea and the in person idea. That way those who couldn't attend in person would have opportunity to participate. Libraries and Universities are the only places I can think of with that much computer availability. (just thinking aloud I guess) Though the CM may have similar capacities. Though if you all brought your respective laptops...

So do the skype during the first day when we're all meeting together and whatever? Or did you mean at two different times.

And I think St. Louis should be doable for me.

Hey! Hey! Mom! I'll take you up on the St. Louis idea!! :D :D *is still very excited*

I am so going to wear my cloak. And bringing my training swords, if there's an opportunity to use them. :)

And I'm not being really very helpful, so I'm going to leave now.

I could make it so St. Louis...maybe. That all depends when we would get together. I'm in California but I have relatives (and an email buddy ;)) who live near St. Louis. There's a slight chance that I could be out there sometime during the summer. Slight, but possible.

Yeah, I would totally want to dress for the occasion. *Considers finishing tunic* If we're still doing it in 3 years, the Creation Museum is definitely the place to do it!

Creation Museum would be semi-possible for me, more so than St. Louis, but I bet I could pull either one off given enough time, such as 3 years. Of course, in 3 years, I will be in college and substantially more free to travel.
I'll go just about anywhere to meet my HW friends :D

So everybody keeps mentioning 3 years... is that something planned yet? Or just an idea?

Just an idea, I guess. Varon brought it up as a joke (I think -- correct me if I'm wrong) because in three years he'll have a driver's license. Of course, we could have one now and have another one in three years. Wouldn't it be cool to organize one every so many years? :D

I think the reason we suggested three years is because none of us can make it now... :? I've got a lot on my plate so this year isn't quite feasible...

A half-joke, I was also being serious.

Having one every couple years might work as well.

Well, 2010 to 2011 marked one year. ;)

St. Louis is out of the question for me. The Creation museum is even stretching it. Several people live in GA, so maybe one at the creation museum, one at St. Lewis, and one in GA and we could all connect via skype. Yes? No? Feedback wanted.

The only places I could possibly convince my parents to drive to are Atlanta and the Creation Museum, and even those are a little iffy.

Why, oh why, didn't I get my driving permit last year?

I'm thinking the same thing, PotK! =P I need to get my rear in gear and get my permit then worry about the license :P Then I could drive Hilly and me up there myself.

True--but Suiauthon's not family. =P Isn't there a certain amount of time you need a license before you can drive non-family?

In GA, I think you can drive non-family when you get a license. You can't with a permit, though.

Exactly, but it's only after a certain amount of time. I think you can drive one non-family as soon as you get the license tho. (But this is off-topic =P)

I don't remember how long you have to have your license, or the laws in GA, but I'm pretty sure you can drive one non-family member even if you just got your license.

In WI, where I live, and where I have my license, you can only drive one non-family member for the first 9 months after you get your license. After that it expands some more. There are exceptions for those above age 25 and stuff, but that is pretty much it.

Except only about 34 max would be coming.

*can't wait!* We need to talk facts. And set a date. March first. There we go. Creation museum. Who could do that?

Um, I don't think we're doing a convention in the foreseeable future, Hilly. At least, thus seems to be the consensus. =)

This is just an idea, but perhaps we could have one central map or file where we would list everyone's locations. The locations don't have to be exact, perhaps just a general area, with other areas to which you would be willing to travel. And this list can/would be kept private, so only the record-keeper would see everyone's locations. I'm willing to be the record keeper person (Airianna can vouch for my non-stalkerness when it comes to addresses).

So...thoughts?

Actually I was thinking about arranging one sooner than that.
Like sometime within the next six months, in St Louis.
I don't expect everybody to be there,
but I think it would be fun to get together with even one or two.

If we didn't want to get too fancy we could just meet at a mall or
park or restaurant or something and spend the afternoon together.

I have seen a couple of people who said they'd be interested.
Any others? We can start looking for a date to shoot for soon.

Mmm... I'd probably have to do it in the summer, as my homeschool program is a bit... rigorous. And I'd have to get permission, of course. It'd be good experience driving though. :)

Will do! You could make a map or something and find the 'densest' location of HWers.

So should we go ahead and send it to you, Evening?

Right... But that's only if I'm desperate. :D

I already started something similar.
I went thru the thread and just marked which state everybody was from.

You can use it as a starting place if you like.

The books or the music in which we thought the beauty was located will betray us if we trust to them; it was not in them, it only came through them, and what came through them was longing. These things—the beauty, the memory of our own past—are good images of what we really desire; but if they are mistaken for the thing itself they turn into dumb idols, breaking the hearts of their worshippers. For they are not the thing itself; they are only the scent of a flower we have not found, the echo of a tune we have not heard, news from a country we have never yet visited.

All the things that have deeply possessed your soul have been but hints of it—tantalising glimpses, promises never quite fulfilled, echoes that died away just as they caught your ear... We cannot tell each other about it. It is the secret signature of each soul, the incommunicable and unappeasable want . . . which we shall still desire on our deathbeds . . . ~C.S. Lewis

That would be so much fun if we could ever get together!

I'm in Florida, and I live less than an hour away from Georgia. I think a few people said they lived around here.

I do have skype, though! :)

I'm in FL, too! And about 3 hours from GA.

The ones that live in the same state should carpool together. And bring a laptop for getting to know each other better. There could be a laptop in every car and we could go to the chat room and update each other on what city we just passed by. :D

We ought to make an announcement about this when we get it a little more solid, so no one is left out in helping to decide.

Good idea, Elly. Although, I know if we went to the creation museum we'd be traveling further on later, so whoever carpooled with us would have to find a ride home. :D

Well, that could probably be quickly managed. I think Abby and I should carpool together. We live pretty close!

We definitely have to carpool, Ells!

I think we should find the person who lives the farthest south, and have them pick everyone up on the way. :)

And I'm taking my four-hour drug and alcohol test tomorrow, hopefully. So I should have my license... next year. :D

Next year? Okay. We're not seriously planning it until 2013 anyway.

1. The Creation Museum is AWESOME.

2. I don't know if I'd be able to go anywhere. That would probably involve my parents driving me (because I don't have a license... at 18), and then they'd have to spend so many hours doing something else, or staying with me. I don't know how well that would go over. And then there's siblings. Only one's a member here.... the other three probably wouldn't have much interest. Haha.

Well, ya'll have fun whatever you decide on doing. You people better post pictures for the absentees!!! :)
