Have you ever revised a story, made a bunch of changes...

And then ultimately decided the original was better?

I've been mutilating Alaidia - which you may've figured out by all the cryptic and confusing threads I've started on the subject - and yesterday I had an epiphany. The changes weren't working, and one of the previous revisions - which is very similar to the original version of the story dating from several years ago - truly is best. My backstory problems aren't solved yet, but I'm a lot closer.

Have you ever done this?

Yes, though not to that extent.

But all the cryptic and confusing threads have got me intrigued. :D

I feel the same way. I threw out probably five thousand words, and completely rewrote it to happen at a completely different location--which required some major changes to the structure of the story...now--I'm trying to balance these changes with the parts coming up in the book. And I don't know what to do.

Well, thank you, Jonathan. :D

It's amazing how even one scene can upset the entire novel, isn't it, Eruheran? :P
