On January 3, 1892, John Ronald Reuel Tolkien was born in Bloemfontein, South Africa . Each year, Tolkien fans/admirers/obsessors join together in love and raise a glass of whatever in his honor, with the toast of "The Professor!" I'll be doing it, with some lovely orange juice. Join? The toast happens at 9:00 PM, your local time.
Make sure you're drinking something somewhat good, people. Cheap junk for JRRT? Not cool.
If you want to post any special comments or just sign the list of toast-ers, the tolkiensociety.org has a place you can write in.

I'll raise a goblet of Miruvor in Tolkien's honor. :D

That is, if I can find a goblet, let alone some elvish cordial...

One of my best friends shares Tolkien's birthday. I'll have to let her know about this, too. ;)

I believe hot tea will fulfill this occasion.

Thanks for telling us about this, Cel! :D

All I'm allowed after 8PM is water, so I shall have to imagine it as Miruvor. ;)

Well, my miruvor was an epic failure so I'll have to join you with the water, Shawn. ;)

Nessa- She's given up the veil, the vows she'd sworn, abandoned every effort to conform. Without a word to anyone she's gone her way alone, a dove escaping back into the storm.

Nolan- And though I don't understand why this happened, I know that I will when I look back someday, and see how you've brought beauty from ashes, and made me as gold purified through the flames.

Azriel- And who do you think you are, running round leaving scars, collecting your jar of hearts, and tearing love apart? You're gonna catch a cold from the ice inside your soul, so don't come back to me. Don't come back at all...

I'll raise my mug of chamomile tea before hitting the sack. I'd toast with mead or wine, but that would get me arrested. :P
