As you may have guessed from the title, I'm trying to find a free alternative or version of Microsoft Word for our Windows Vista laptop. Does anyone have any suggestions or linkies? I'm leery of trying anything off of the internet as I really don't want to download a virus. :P

Thanks!

I use open office, you can download it free and I've never had a problem with it :)

edit:

Why do I keep reading things wrong?? Anyhow it's an alternative to Microsoft so not sure if you're at all interested in that or not ;)

You really can't go wrong with OpenOffice. It can even open Word files and save word files. (it also works on Linux/Ubuntu machines, if you happen to get into that later too...)

Yes, it's a download but it's safe. http://www.openoffice.org/

I use Google docs.

https://docs.google.com/

It can do everything MSoffice can do, and the best part: you can access your files from anywhere. (not to mention that every file is backed up automatically. you can never lose a file if your computer goes down)

Thanks, all of you! I decided to go with Open Office, so this thread can now be locked and archived. Again, thank you!
