Okay, so here's the basic plot for my story:

The MC finds out she's an Elf and leaves the village she has lived in her entire life to live with her people. A couple days later, she is kidnapped by a Dark Elf and locked in a dungeon. The Elf who kidnapped her isn't as mean to her as the others are, and convinces the king to let him take care of her and to keep everyone else away from her (most of the Dark Elf men are not-so-nice). Later they go for a walk and he feels sorry for her and lets her escape. Then he is thrown in the dungeon himself.
(I'm still in the process of working out this next part completely) The MC is wondering what happened to him after she left, when she meets a strange little man who agrees to get the Dark Elf out of the dungeon if they will both travel to his land and serve them for 500 years (as is custom anytime the Chaidens, which is the people of the man, help someone). She agrees, and the three of them have to travel to the Chaiden's land.
They find out that the Chaiden actually need their help with something (I'm still working on this part), and in return, the two Elves will be freed before the 500 years is up and allowed to return to their people.

There are also some other subplots about her siblings, and the next book will be about her brother about a 8-12 months after this story ends.

So does this sound like something you would read? Any advice? Anything I might need to change? Should whatever they have to do for the Chaidens be part of this book? Any other comments?

Sounds like something that I would read. I love twisted plots, so the twistier the better.

Here are some questions I have for you about the plot:

Why do the Dark Elves kidnap her (the MC)? What do they want from her?

Why is her kidnapper nice to her/why did he kidnap her in the first place?

How are the Chaidens going to keep the Elves on their island and insure that they don't leave?

Yes, I think that what they do for the Chaidens should be part of that book as it seems essential to the plot line.

I'm assuming that the elves (and Chaiden) are either immortal or long-lived since there is a 500 year contract.

Oh, believe me, this plot is very twisty. I tend to do that...

They kidnapped her because she is the daughter of the Elven king (I forgot to mention that part, apparently... although it is a rather important fact XP) and they are going to threaten to kill her if her father doesn't give up the kingdom. They captured her brother as well (which is more of the subplot, although the fact he is captured plays a big part in trying to take over the kingdom).

Her kidnapper captured her because of an agreement between him and another Dark Elf. The older Dark Elf was being unkind to a slave (she's a slave because she married an Elf and became an outcast, and the Dark Elves only accepted her after her husband died because a Dark Elf man kept her as a slave. And she still is treated worse than other women), and the younger Dark Elf agreed to do any one thing the older Dark Elf wanted if he would leave the woman alone. The older Dark Elf was the captain of the army and wanted to win favor with the king, so he told the younger Dark Elf to capture the princess and bring her back so the older Dark Elf could take the credit for it. (They didn't know the MC was still alive and back with the Elves. They only knew of her sister.)
Her kidnapper wasn't like the other Dark Elves (they treat women as property and playthings, although some women don't care... stuff like that that I don't really go into detail about) and he felt sorry for her after he captured her. He slowly falls in love with her over the course of the story, although she doesn't realize it for a long time. He's constantly fighting his emotions because all he's known is how the people around him act. He doesn't know any better, although he somehow senses their ways are wrong. (They would have taken advantage of the Elf, or beaten her and treated her like dirt... or both. Yeah, they have become rather evil over the years...) He treats her with respect because he feels it's the right thing to do, even it was never taught to him.

The Chaidens live in the mountains, and it's a long way from the forest. There is really no way to keep them there, but the Elves are bound to that agreement. The Chaidens are quick and powerful, so they can actually make the Elves go wherever they want them to, but force won't be necessary as long as the Elves obey (which they will).

Yes, the Elves can live to be about 800-900 years old, and the Chaiden can live to be 10,000 (although usually about 9000).

It definitely sounds VERY interesting Sapphira.:) The Dark Elves sound a little like the wraiths I have in my story.:) Except...they're different too. LOL! Oh, how eloquent that was.

anyway, yes! I would definitely be interested in reading this! IS it your nano?

Nessa- She's given up the veil, the vows she'd sworn, abandoned every effort to conform. Without a word to anyone she's gone her way alone, a dove escaping back into the storm.

Nolan- And though I don't understand why this happened, I know that I will when I look back someday, and see how you've brought beauty from ashes, and made me as gold purified through the flames.

Azriel- And who do you think you are, running round leaving scars, collecting your jar of hearts, and tearing love apart? You're gonna catch a cold from the ice inside your soul, so don't come back to me. Don't come back at all...

Yep, this is what I came up for NaNo (but since I only had a month, I didn't have time to work out all of the details, since I usually do that as I write. Which is why I ended up with a twisty plot that only had a vague ending)

I'm going to move this topic to the archives, since I seem to have gotten the answers I needed.
