When I try to send private messages, they haven't been sending. It only happens when I am the one starting the conversation... not when I'm replying to someone.

I was wondering if this is a bug, and if I'm the only one with this problem.

I haven't noticed it, but I had noticed that PMs seemed to take longer to send. That may be unrelated... Does it happen when you hit "PM" at the bottom of a post? That's the only time I've been starting a conversation recently, and it hasn't had problems.

I don't send that many pms, so it's only happened a couple times. Once was when I was sending a welcome pm to Galadriel, because I'm a friend of hers, and the other time was when I was pming The Traveler about something in her story... so neither of them were when I hit "pm" at the bottom of a post.

Be sure you have the name of the person who the PM needs to be sent to in the To: line. I have forgotten this many times. It will not send if it has no sender.

There's a name in the "to" line on both of the pms that aren't sending. :? I have done that before, though!

This only happens when I use the "compose message" button.

Does it have a title? A composed message won't send it there isn't a title either. I send composed messages all the time, so I'm kind of confused why yours won't send...

Hmmm... Maybe you should try to recompose them. Otherwise, you can go to the members list and click on the "Pm this User" icon and PM her that way.

Very strange...

I have tried recomposing them before, so I guess I'll just do it the other way. It's so weird that I'm the only one with this problem...

Wondered how long you are taking to compose them.
Sometimes if you wait too long to send it the page has ... kind of moved on,
and no longer recognizes that you've composed something that it should send.

Have you tried copying the composed text into a notepad file and refreshing the pm page?
Then you can paste the message back into the page and hit send.

I often open a message and start working on it, only to be distracted by something else.
When I come back 1/2 hour later to finish it and send it the page has given up on me. :?

Your screenshot looks like a PM that has been sent. I'm not sure what the problem is...

They are in the outbox, so they haven't been sent yet.

Your outbox holds your sent mail. Do you have a way to contact the recipient outside of HW to find out if she received it?

But they aren't in my sent messages folder... that's strange. She goes to my church, so I'll ask about it next Sunday.

I think PMs stay in your Outbox until they are read. :)

Oh! Is that what you were asking?

Yes, you won't have the message appear in your sent box until the person gets the message. Until then, it remains in your outbox. So the two messages you can't get to send are sent, they just haven't been received yet. :D

Now see, I didn't know that. So you can know when someone read your message? Coolness.

Yep. You send a message and it will go directly into your inbox, where it will remain until the person you sent it to opens it up. I actually have one PM sitting in my inbox that is from October the 24th. So that user has not returned to HW since she joined.

* chuckles * That feature is really neat... but it has also created some confusion. Methinks we need to add a mention of it in the Library. :)

That might be a good idea. I sure didn't know what the outbox was for! :)
