Anybody like to read webcomics here?

Doing a bit of research for a potential project... curious what clean webcomics are out there. :)

I enjoyed reading Darths and Droids (it's hilarious for Star Wars fans), but the language bugged me so I can't recommend. Besides that, I have read one steampunk webcomic, but that is a definite no-recommend due to language and magic and some blood (though artistically rendered). Oh, and I've read XKCD a bit, but that's not a long-running plot.

Would people be interested in a good clean fantasy/sci-fi/steampunk webcomic? Does anyone know anything about running one?

I like webcomics, and I'd definitely read yours! Of course, I'm your sister, so I don't count... :(

I love webcomics, but I haven't found any that are above reproach. :P

Neither have I. Darths & Droids is probably the cleanest one I've found.

A sci-fi one, yes. Steampunk is also yes. Fantasy is a maybe.

I'm actually working on a stick figure one I'm thinking about posting on a blog.

Wow, things can change a lot in three months. <smile>

Still working on ideas for webmangas; learning how to draw; teaming up with various manga-ka's for one-shots; having tons of fun, and reading way too much manga instead of doing more productive stuff. <grin>

Here's what I've found for good recommends so far:

Advocate Voice -- a clean Christian fantasy webmanga but it's on hiatus until January; at which point the manga-ka is going to start over and post new pages for everything. My personal favorite from everything that I've found so far.
www.advocate.christianmanga.com

Game Plan -- a clean Christian shoujo webmanga; completed. A little mushy but rather cute.
www.gameplanmanga.com

Skipping Tomorrows -- a pretty much clean (not specifically Christian but by a Christian manga-ka AFAIK) webmanga which doesn't seem to follow a genre. A bit of time-travel, quite a bit of romance; a very sweet story. It's just too bad that it has not been updated in 6 months. :P

I'm not remembering any others off the top of my head that are clean, well-drawn, and interesting; and not abandoned, of course. (many webmangas get abandoned after their manga-kas go off to college...)

Oh yeah.... over at theproject.us they have a number of completed one-shots and a bunch of Christian comics/mangas; but the long-running ones have not been updated in 2 years. They're also mostly for the upper age range; they have nice handy ratings on them for age level. :) Hopefully they'll start updating the site more often soon.

I have to recommend Advocate Voice; it's really good.

Look at this, Willow -- there's some more art posted here, a sample of her newer art. :)

Anyone know any non-manga ones? Manga just rubs me the wrong way.

Not really, Varon. I honestly don't care much for the non-manga kind, lol. If I think of any, though, I'll post them.

You could check the Christian Comic Arts Society's site. (google it) I don't think they have a listing, but if you sign up on their site you can snoop on profiles & in forum posts...

I had found a good non-manga one, but the language and gore was really bad. But hey, it was a war one. I don't read it now.

Oh, there hasn't been any language on Darths and Droids for a while now.

I like both manga and comics. I think it would be interesting if someone wrote a Christian manga or comic that could be read on a website or received by e-mail in monthly (or if necessary, irregular) installments. The writer/artist could make money by having ads at the beginning of each installment.

Similarly, a Christian daily comic series would also be interesting.

I don't think webcomics are overly commercially viable. Ads don't sell for enough unless you're already well-established. :P But you can sell themed accessories (shirts, etc) and bound volumes....

Not really a dayjob thing. ;)

But I'm continuing to research and see what is commercially viable and what is not...
