Hi everyone,
I need some sort of faces. I really need them, in fact. I'm designing the cover of my novel, and I want those sort of profile-side images that are common on movie posters and books (such as this book). I have a very specific person for one of my characters, but I don't know them well and I hesitate to ask them to take a picture and send it to me (awkward). The other mc has someone who he's based off of but I was just wondering if there were any 'face sites' out there that were clean?

(I know there was a thread similar to this originally...somewhere...but I couldn't find it)

Actually, Elanhil, I did try that...made me feel very weird in a creepy stalker-ish sort of way. But it's hard to find pictures that are specifically like the type I need. :) But apparently there's a group of us that need good pictures, maybe I should start a site for this. :)

I was just thinking yesterday that someone should make a site like that.

I think this came up somewhere else, but I have thought that too. Eruheran, if you can't find a good picture, you could always do what Lady E did, and take pictures from a distance. :D

The problem with pictures from a distance is that they're often low quality. Anyways, y'all, check out http://characterfacefinder.blogspot.com/ It's a very new site. Very new in fact. Less than five minutes old. :D :D I'll let you know if anything comes of it.

Following!

YEARBOOKS!! They are simply crawling with good profiles. [Rummages around for his old yearbook] Aw, man! It's in the states! :(

Unfortunately yearbooks don't usually have good quality pictures (they're small) and I can't do pictures without someone's permission. :(

Righto, here's the deal...the site is at least alive now. Y'all can subscribe if you want to hear when we actually go live. :) I just need a side face and front facing. :)

Right now I'm working on figuring out the copyright details of all of this (apparently pretty complicated...can anyone help with that?) and working on the website's template so it actually looks nice. So far it does. :D :D

Donate-a-Face. If they willingly give it, I see no problem.

Sweet! Thanks, eruheran! :D Will we be able to donate pictures and put in requests for people with Photoshop or something like it to change eyecolors, etc?

Well, let me think here. Donate pictures is the main way it will grow. So once it opens, go tell your friends like crazy! :P

Photoshopping faces is not on the horizon, at least not for a while...I'd need a lot more time and some helpers. However, if anyone wants to volunteer. *Hint hint*

All right then! I will find some friends who write and take LOTS of photos (of people with permission, of course). Hmm, who could I find...

Unfortunately, I have no idea how to Photoshop (hence I asked). I know some people who can, so I could see if they would be interested. I'm not sure if they would though... :?

I changed brown eyes to blue with fireworks! As long as there aren't that many requests I could help.

Thanks Elanhil, (and Shawn) for your help.

Elanhil, my problem, like you, isn't that I don't know how to do it, but rather that I don't have the time. But if you're willing to help maybe it's doable in the future. Right now I need to get my rear in gear working on the actual site. ;)

We have a program called Paintshop Pro 7 (PSP) that I can use fairly well. It can change hair color, eye color, etc. I can do some occasionally. I also think we need a portion of the site dedicated to candid shots. I have a lot of those that could be used. Faces in a crowd, so to speak. Just went 'face gathering' as I call it; taking pictures of random people in a crowd. I didn't always get a profile and a straight on shot, but the ones I got were good. Can we do that?
Here are some photos that I edited with PSP. http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=2025711&id=1399524630&l=5732724424

Interesting idea...I guess it could work. The thing about candid shots is they're often low quality...but I guess maybe it could work, like I said.

I'm thinking right now with the photo editing we'll just hold off for a little bit. My first priority is to get the site up and running (But when I do consider photo editing, I'll keep you in mind, Eruwaedhiel)

Faces! I need faces! :P This was a good idea, I wish somebody had thought of it early.

Unfortunately it's going to be a while before this gets live. But rest assured that the delay is to make sure it's actually a really good site! :D

Eruheran has a habit of starting projects and forgetting about them, so I am heading this one up. Hopefully it will be running by Christmas. First, I need one or two people to help me out. You would pretty much be finding good pictures and optimizing them to proper form for the blog and making sure pictures are good quality. If you are interested, PM me and I will give you details.

Ahem. It's called delegating. =) But delegating or forgetting aside, Elanhil is in charge of this project now, so listen to what he says. We could really use faces! =)

And I'm working as fast as I can to get the design finished... =D
