There needs to be a "any time notebooks get too close to me" option. ;)

midnight and beyond is preferred (maybe that's why I almost never write? -- I'm gonna stick with school being the issue ;) )

I write best at 1:36 am in the morning. :D Seriously, though. I stay up as late as I can get away with and still function. I LOVE darkness, and wind, and rain and skeletal trees scraping against the house. ;)

Ok. I'll leave now that I've revealed myself to be really creepy.

Definitely at night. I don't know if it's because the darkness further isolates me from everything else so I can be drawn into the story, or just because I care less about sounding stupid at midnight :P
I keep being told I shouldn't stay up so late, though... one of these days I may have to listen.

Whenever I get the computer and no one is on a chatroom is when I write best. So that's normally at night, sometime before 12.
It also helps when I have access to epic music. :D

I'm a nighthawk all the way. (why is it always called night owl? owls are always night, what about that one poor day owl who-) sorry, anyways.

I do some character act in study halls but if I start something right before I go to bed my mind won't let it go until I've finished it.

I consider anything that early to be still night. So sometimes I'll get up then, write, and then go back to bed. ;)

This is true. =D

I'm best in the morning, I guess I'm the only one. I get up at 5:30 each morning, and usually write best during that time. Seriously, after 9 PM I just shut down; I am a total morning person. But I often get good writing done during the evening too. Apparently, 5:30 AM is now night time? When did that happen? That's morning people! =D

I can usually write at any time, provided it's on a schedule and I get used to doing it every day. Discipline is more important to my writing than when I write.

I can write any time of the day, and if I have words that I really, really must get out, I'll write in the morning before trying to focus on other projects. But in general, most of my undivided writing time comes in the evening to varying degrees of lateness. The rest of the day's work is done, and it's quieter in the house - I'm not needed by my family, etc.

I have to write in the middle of the night, or in the wee hours of the morning. I have to have all the windows open so I can see the moon and the outlines of the trees, then sit upstairs and stuff myself with tea and almonds (at least it's healthy). That's pretty much the only time I can write; I'm writing in my head all day any day, but to actually put fingers to keys or pencil to paper it has to be the middle of the night.

I write best at night, between 10 pm and midnight. :) Unfortunately, I'm not often allowed to stay up that late, so I do most of my writing during the day.

I'm definitely a night owl writer.... hmmmmm sounds like "night owl rider" I may have to remember that for my next story  I do my best writing, listening to epic music, between the hours of midnight and 4 am. This can be terrible when I have to work the next day lol.

I voted in the afternoon since that's when I'm done with school. I don't get hang out with any friends since they have post-secondary and part-times jobs. :P I haven't written anything hard core since April. :'( I also write at night. Or whenever I have the inspiration, I suppose. ;)

That's why I write then, too, Amanda. Nice and quiet =D

It's hard to concentrate when you're trying to write and your dad is reading The Hobbit to your little brother and you haven't read it since fifth grade and he is sitting right there and Bilbo is stuck in a tree and the wolves are all around them, and you don't know if he's going to make it out alive until Gandalf saves the day, and then the eagles carry them off.

I write better just after everyone else has gone to bed, because I don't have anything else to focus on...

... unless of course I have a good book going, or something that I want to get back and read... :book: :D

It depends. I've never tried writing in the morning after 4:30 am because I'm a nighthawk. I suppose I should try getting up before 9:30 to try and write some.

I'm with Amanda. Anytime a notebook gets to close to me. If I'm writing I write anytime, anywhere. Noise, no noise, music, no music, (although music helps,) sitting, standing, lying in my bed, doing something else at the same time, dark, light, (a little light is always nice, although I have been known to write in the complete darkness,) morning, night, (I've woken up eagerly in the morning glad I was done sleeping so I could get back to writing. My mom would get up at seven to see me sitting at the table, scribbling away,) afternoon is usually best because afternoon is best for everything. :D

I'm like Manda and Jaynin; I'll write whenever a notebook happens to be around. :D But I do think I write best at night, when no one is around to distract me, and it's too dark to see anything but my computer screen. *is very easily distracted* :P It also helps if I don't have anything else I have to do, that way I can focus on my writing. :)

I'm more of a tea time in the afternoon writer myself. Though I sometimes write after dark.
Also I scribble a lot in the car while I'm out working.
I hardly ever stay up past 11 at night I like to get my sleep :D
