I need a language that is ancient enough to use for magic. I just need ideas on how to create it. Any ideas?

The only help I can think to give is to suggest short words, 2 or 3 syllables in length. I don't know why, languages with short words seem older to me. Also when words end in vowels they seem older to me.

Oh, and also if there are common endings.

*Note: None of my advice is proven. It's just what me as a reader tend to think when I read fantasy languages.

If your characters chant the words I'd use short, 'hard' sounding words.
If it's more a smooth (incantation-like) speech I'd actually use longer words, or have your words easily tied into a bigger word to mean things. (i.e. rock=ach, paper=inar, scissors=aet; rock, paper, scissors = Achinaraet) This works best if all the words either start or end with a vowel and are only one syllable.

I suggest that you refer to this resource: http://www.zompist.com/kit.html

Redemption is to be purchased, to have a price paid. So I was redeemed from my master sin, and from justice, which demanded my death. For He paid the price of sin by becoming sin, and met the demands of justice by dying for us.

For all men have a master. But a man cannot have two masters. For he will love one and hate the other. You cannot serve God and sin. So I die to the old, as He died, and I am resurrected to the new, as He was resurrected.

Note: Ebed is Hebrew for bondsman, Eleutheros is Greek for unrestrained (not a slave).
