I was aware of two possibilities; for one of them, "pouch" would have scored a 4, while for the other it would have scored a 1. I believe I now know what the word is, but I'll have to wait my turn

I'm all but certain that Alias Ember's guess is correct. The other word my calculations said it could have been, until "pouch" scored only 1, was "poach".
