Google says it is. XD

Are you sure covin and Congo were both three? 'cause right now I can't find a word that would fit... "Annoy" eliminated "n" as the third letter while "whiff" likewise eliminated "I." I could be completely incorrect too. XD

I was doubtful about all three of the last three guesses, having never met "congo" as a non-proper noun nor "covin" nor "coign" at all, but now I've looked into it they're allowable guesses but arguably objectionable if chosen as the word we're asked to guess :)

Now that very first clue has been corrected:

conic

Yeah, I thought covin might have been a typo, but it's an archaic form. Figured that had to be allowable on a writing forum.

Conic - Winner!

I'm really sorry that I keep messing this up, folks.

Oh... my. I was not at all expecting that (partially because Minstrelgirl's "races" only got a score of 1 instead of 2) I was thinking, "This word totally isn't it, but we might get close." Well. Okay then.

Here we go:

Caper - 0

Oops  Sorry for the mistake.

As a long shot to conceivably pin down a single letter:

Huh. I was not expecting that :) Of the most immediately apparent possibilities, I chose the one I thought least likely ...

Anyway, I am now thinking of a five-letter word that is not

queue (lastword): 1

I will admit that the thought of the possibility of giving "whisk" a non-zero score did factor into my choice :). But as I've said before, a non-zero score is generally a less useful clue than a zero score; you now know that two of the letters in "whisk" are correct, but not which letters, while if it had scored 0 you would know that none of the letters were correct.
