I picked up a book called Dark Rivers of the Heart by Dean Koontz at a local charity shop. I have, so far, only read the first two chapters, but I absolutely love his writing style. I'm gripped from the start because I immediately found myself there in the story, the writing and descriptions are so good.

I have no idea what is going to happen, or what the story will end up like in the end, but I am currently hooked. Has anyone else read any of his books?

This is the first one I've read of his work. Up to now, I'd definitely read more!

I have not, though, fyi according to goodreads Dean R. Koontz has also published under the names Leigh Nichols, Brian Coffey, David Axton, Owen West, Deanna Dwyer and Aaron Wolfe. He certainly has quite an impressive list of books.

Looks like I need to hit up one of the many local used book shops. I'd love to study books that bring you into the story quickly.

I saw that when I looked it up, Sparks, but I haven't read any of the books written by those mentioned.

I guess it depends on what type of writing you like as well, though. I love lots of description; for instance, I lap up all the detail in Lord of the Rings, whereas some people prefer quick and snappy writing.

I'm not much for horror but don't mind some action or tension. So far in "Cold Fire" he seems to use third person close with one POV character per 2000 or so word chapter. Enjoying it so far, thanks for the comment!
