I'm the sort of person who reads vast amounts of children's books, despite being much older than the typical user of the juvenile section of the library. I just finished a two-book series: The Blackthorn Key and Mark of the Plague by Kevin Sands. Excellent historical fiction, and I definitely recommend it to anyone who likes ciphers and puzzles. It's also quite the page turner.

Doon by Carey Corp & Lorie Langdon. (A bit disappointed in it so far - everything keeps going too well!)
Mind Writer by Mike Lynch and Lisa Godfrees

I'm reading "Uninvited" for a book club the ladies at church are doing this year. I signed up because, well, I need to read, and my friend is doing it, and I said I'd go if she's going and so... :book:

I've never read it (or seen it) but I've been curious since they talk about it so much in The Lake House. Is it worse than the other Austens??

The only Jane Austen book that I really enjoyed was Emma. I found the others really hard going to read. :P

You guys are making me want to read Pride and Prejudice again.

I just finished 112 Christian Authors and Publishing Professionals Share Their Best Advice for Novelists. It was really good and I highly recommend it.

Now it's on to another book. I just have to decide which one.

I'm currently beta-reading a middle grade novel for someone off of Simbi. (https://simbi.com/sarah-bacavis) It's literally the most adorable thing. :book:

I found a large collection of Christine Feehan books the other day at a local charity shop. Someone had brought almost all her Dark collection in, and I got them all for about ten pounds, which is amazing. (They're usually about £8 each) I haven't started them yet, as I have been working a lot, and having lots of early nights, but they are my next books to read. I am looking forward to seeing what they are like. Has anyone else read them?

So I recently finished Waking Beauty by Sarah E Morin. Talk about good. I've read 2 books this year that I would qualify as fantastic reads and this was one of them. (The other was Terra Soul by S.J. Abraham.) It's a Sleeping Beauty retelling only this time, the story starts when the prince arrives and the princess refuses to believe she is awake. It's charming from the first line and the story just gets better and better. It's heavily symbolic and thematic but never at the expense of the story. It's a little silly at times (think Princess Bride type humor) but also very philosophical and deep.

“His princess was dusty. Arpien should have expected that. Anything lying undisturbed for a hundred years would gather dust. He'd crossed the ocean to find the right sword for this venture, but neglected to pack a feather duster.”

“When people fall off their pedestals, you have two options. Either you can hate them for letting you down, or you can look at them eye to eye and sympathize, you're just like me.”

lol Right? When the prince has to dust off the princess's lips before he can kiss her, you know you're in for a fun book. And the other one gives the serious-side's flavor.
