I have been pondering starting a facebook page for myself as an author for some time, mainly so that I can advertise my picture book when it is finished, but also to share the writing process with others who take interest as I go along.
So what goes into an author page? I know I'll need a relatively professional-looking photo, and I would like to talk some about my writing as I go along, but what really makes for good facebook marketing?
Hi Lady Kitra,
I would say that facebook is one of the harder places to promote books, having had my author page active for over a year now. That being said, there are strategies you can employ to either get more likes, shares, or traffic to your books.
Kim Garst has numerous FB marketing resources that are free on her site.
Self Publishing Formula also provides free videos on how to create FB ads that help sell books and get readers subscribed to your newsletter.
As far as a cover picture goes, I've seen authors use images ranging from their book covers to family photos, so there isn't really a standard--it just depends on your audience. If you want to create a professional, aesthetically-pleasing cover image, I would recommend using
Canva. It has templates for FB cover images with slick designs and beautiful fonts. And it's FREE!
Hope that helps,
Daniel
