I have been very disappointed by modern fantasy -except for a couple of books -since Tolkien is the ultimate fantasy master for me, and I found most of the fantasy books that followed him were kinds of copies, and repetitive (scheme, universe, creatures and characters…).
So have I, actually, even books that are said to be well-done – and often are well done. They just don't seem to have a good spark to them, and good individuality.

Like you said, they seem to have a bit of a problem with being repetitive.
There is one, though, that I greatly enjoyed, and it might interest you. 'Angel Fall' by Coleman Luck. I can't think of any others just now. But you might find some good recommendations in the 'Watchtower' section of the forums too.

I've been writing for six/seven years now (I was twelve at the time) but never managed to complete anything, except short stories -but I have always wanted to write novels....now for the first time I am working very seriously on a fantasy novel, and I intend to make something of it !!
I hope you're able to! It took me a long time to work up to writing novels, but I kept trying, and eventually I pulled it off. Now I've written eight books.
Robert Louis Stevenson for one took quite a long time before he ever managed to finish a novel, so neither of you are alone in that.
What sort of dancing do you do?
