If you do, Youtube "They're taking the hobbits to Isengard." It's hilarious! (And not my work, just a recommendation.)

Yeah that is extremely funny.

In my humble opinion, I thought The Fellowship was wonderfully done.

Definitely.

I have not yet finished the book...

Finish it, it's awesome.

Namor! I haven't seen you on here in forever!

Agreed, Tom Bombadil would have been hard to portray in a movie. He had so much depth in the book that it would have seemed cheaper if they had put him in and he wasn't done right.

I think they cut out Bombadil for the same reason they had Faramir tempted by the Ring. One of the writers pointed out that a major plot point is showing how evil the Ring is, and theatrically, it would seem cheap for a character to pop up and remain seemingly unaffected by Its power. Tolkien could pull that off in the books, but in a movie it would seem cheap since we can't jump into the characters' heads.

I see the movies and the books as being separate entities. For me, its harder to get into the books (maybe it's all the description... I don't know) than the movies, so I've watched the movies more that I've read the books.

But wow, Peter Jackson and his gang did a fantastic job on the movies. If I ever finished a novel and had it adapted into a movie, I'd love for it to be adapted in the same way that Jackson adapted LotR. Like Willow said, those movies make me happy. :D
