Corithazon (called Cor by siblings and friends) is the second son of the king of Athulia. As such, according to tradition, he will one day take his father's place as king. Unlike many at the Athulian court, he is generally studious, taking his future responsibilities seriously. Athulia's prestige and power in the world is highly important to him, and his goal for his future reign is to maintain its position and increase it if possible. This leads to quite a bit of friction with his older brother (Saen), because he knows his brother will be instrumental in maintaining or destroying Athulia's prestige. He worries about his brother's often careless nature, and often scolds him about it, not realizing that Saen is serious when it really matters.

In spite of being one of the most studious at court, Cor is not adverse to having fun. He participates in horse races, dances, and other amusements as often as possible, even flirting when it suits him. His friends would tell you that he is haughty until you get to know him, at which time he shows his more genial side. Cor is more concerned about arriving at a desired result than the ethics of the way he gets there.

Cor has a close relationship with most of his family. He is tender and loving with Nenith. He holds Sylve in check at times, but often lets her be, since he doesn't see what she's doing as wrong (see Sylve's interview for explanation). As previously mentioned, his relationship with Saen is extremely rocky, to the point of being unable to work together.

(and here come the lists)

Character:
- Competitive
- Confident
- Stubborn
- Low tolerance for frustration
- Status-seeker (sort of)
- Wants to be the leader
- Often avoids warmth and intimacy
- Somewhat domineering
- High standards
- Driven to succeed
- Hard worker
- Prefers to help rather than be helped
Strengths:
- Stubborn
- Willing to help
- Perseveres
- Good leader
- Capable and reliable
Weaknesses:
- Can become frustrated easily when others do not meet his standards of perfection
- Haughty
- Afraid of failure
- Will not let others stand in his way

Please direct your questions to Corithazon, so I can work on his voice at the same time. :)

How do you handle your emotions?

Are you nervous about one day becoming king?

I never, ever let them show; they're nobody's business. I'll take time on my own to collect myself if I need to, but I rarely do. Sometimes I write to get things off my chest. Don't bother asking if you can see them. Nobody can.

*raises one eyebrow* Why would I be nervous? I was born to take that place.
Me: Are you being honest?
I'm not nervous for myself; I can handle things. I can't control other people's actions, though, and people are horribly unpredictable. So I suppose you may say I'm nervous that other people will foul things up.

Do you feel responsible for the workings of the nation even now, before you take your place as king?

Do you realize the jeopardy you are placing the country under by not attempting a less conflicted relationship with the future battle master? * raises eyebrow *

What do you believe is the most important quality for a leader?

Do you respect your father?

Certainly. The alliances and friendships I make now will be fundamental to my reign. Anything I do now could affect my prosperity and success when I am king.

I'm trying to prevent him from jeopardizing the country during my reign. Relationships between kings and battlemasters, even between my own father and uncle, haven't always been rosy, and we've done just fine. Saen's bound by a code of honour, duty, and tradition. He'd never turn against me or refuse to follow my edicts. I'll give him that much credit.

The ability to command respect and obedience.

Sure. He may not be the most stellar of kings, but he's done well.

Me: Now I'm curious if these father questions stem from something you noticed in KB. PM me if so?

Is there a woman you would seriously consider pursuing romantically? What qualities do you believe a queen would need?

Who do you believe the king answers to? How does that affect the way you prepare yourself now?

At this moment, no. The majority of women at court are empty-headed ornaments. If I absolutely had to choose someone of my acquaintance, I would settle for Lady Kirra. She has more brains than most.

She needs to be level-headed and care about Athulia. She must be pretty for the people's sake and be willing and sensible enough to discuss political matters for mine. She must have dignity and poise and a sweet nature.

The king answers to no one but himself and history. He must live up to what has been done before him, and make his own mark on the country. A king rules by inherent right. I study those who have gone before me and participate in discussions regarding policy so that I may begin to influence my country's prestige even now.
