A few months ago I got a vague idea for a steampunk novel. The world desperately needs more steampunk novels, so I resolved to go ahead and write it. The problem is, I'm having trouble developing much of a plot. I realized this is because I don't actually understand my world. I generally pooh-pooh extensive worldbuilding, but it seems I run up against not understanding my world an awful lot lately. So I used the powers no one dares take away from me and created a subforum that is maybe not exactly like what Realms Beyond was purposed to be. But if it accomplishes getting a novel written and entertains you in the process then perhaps this rebel will be forgiven for blatantly flaunting the rules--yet again.

Steampunk is so much fun. It's like time out of time. The industrial revolution remade warp speed into the space age. ...flint-lock pistols that shoot laser beams and cookoo clock time machines... Clothes that are so beautifully uncomfortable that you MUST have good posture to even consider, and make sure to seat yourself in a DEEP seated chair, and ONLY on the very edge or you never know what backlash you may receive from that bustle!

I'm liking this subforum already.

And Seer, if that means you're trying to leave us, I'm gonna cry.
