Hey! All right, Angelsword and I decided to write a story together, set in the historical gap of Ireland. My character, Erin, is a time traveling changeling, and I think Angelsword's is an Irish fairy.

Ok, Angelsword, I'm thinking we can each add a paragraph as we go? I'll start. ;)

Erin stared at the huge tome lying open on the library's table. History of Ancient Ireland. read the small print at the upper-right corner of each page. "My history," she thought aloud. A full history, laden with the coin sìth and cat sìth, fairy dogs and cats; and bean sídhe, keening hags who cried for men destined to soon die. A history of defective fairy children switched at birth with human children. Changelings. ...Me. She sighed and flipped the page. In those days, changeling children were set in hot ovens, drowned, or scourged. Now, in this "technologically advanced" age, changelings were hunted down by the government for experiments. Dissected to examine how they worked, like a fine watch left in the hands of a watchmaker who was blindfolded and paralyzed. Erin jerked up the hood of her hoodie as another patron entered the library.

"Little light reading?" the human librarian asked in a raspy voice; sneezing because of the flu.
"I will leave, I can see I am not welcome." Connor walked out of the tech section when his glasses fell to the floor.
"You are trouble, you little rat! Does the orphanage even know you're here?" when she said those words he knew he couldn't tell her the truth.
I am a Ccangeling, and you have taken my friends, so I am staying at the orphanage until someone gets abducted by them.
Them: the government. The Wisemen, they called themselves.
The Wisemen took changelings as soon as they were identified and experimented with them, making them weapons for their own purposes.
No, she can not know the truth, not when I am so close.

Erin started at the librarian's voice. "Uh...y-yeah." she snapped the book shut and hurried to return it to the shelf. Jamming her hands in her pockets, she trotted to the door, heat rising to her cheeks.
A pair of glasses met her downturned gaze. She knelt, picking them up with one abnormally short-fingernailed hand. When she rose, she came face-to-face with a boy. He had a strange air about him. hmm, she offered a shy smile. "Are these yours?" She asked softly, extending the hand holding the glasses.

The boy shook his head and threw a dark glance at her before hurrying out.
Erin saw the librarian talking to someone in an army uniform, and then they walked away into a bookshelf. Or did they go through the bookshelf?
Being quiet, she sneaked by the counter and saw that the library had closed. She was the only one there.
Then, a book seemed out of place: The SCC, the Seelie Court Code. Grabbing it, the wall began to turn, and she overheard the two talking.
A bubble opened up inside the wall, a hole she put her eye to.
There was a extending sanctuary like a giant house inside a wall. How was that possible?
"You failed me, the changelings were supposed to be ready by tonight!" the librarian yelled.
"The SCD is on our trail, my mistress. Forgive me!" he begged.
"I am tired of excuses from you, Marcus! You are done! I have lived in this wall for centuries, and I want a new home! My husband will pay for what he did, Marcus!" she yelled, her eyes turning yellow.
"Let me go, please! Please, let me go! " a soldier cried out, with his other soldiers behind him in chains.
"Well, the mighty have fallen! Let me play you a tune, maybe it will change your mind, Captain. Marcus! Fetch my violin, I am in the mood for something sad today," she commanded him. Marcus hissed, but he was her servant. A brownie. Why did he have to be her brownie?
Grabbing the instrument, she held it in one hand--the bow in the other--and began to stroke the strings.
"No! I will not listen! Men, cover your ears!" he yelled to his men.
"Beautiful song, such graceful sounds," his soldier said.
"Snap out of it!" the captain yelled.
"I can't, sir, I love the sound of the violin playing. It makes me laugh, and makes me feel angry at our queen. She expects us to protect her, but who protects us? I want a day off!" the soldier said.
"Have you gone mad?! Oh...that is wonderful music, the sound of...my queen must die."
His mind was hers for the taking.
"Yes, Captain! Your queen must die!" the librarian stopped playing.
"Oh no! Someone has to warn the queen!" Erin didn't realize it, but she had said it out loud.
"Who said that? Someone is watching us, you fool!" she raised her clawed hands in protest.

Erin's heart skipped a panicked beat as the guard met her eyes. Run! Her legs were slow to comply, the cumbersome shoes hiding her hooves making her clumsy. She crashed into a library table, skinning her elbow on its edge. Recovering, she took off again, running like the Wild Hunt itself was on her heels.
"There's a plot against the queen! The library queen is coming to kill her!" she shouted frazzledly as she ran through the street. People gave her strange looks. A few stepped into the nearby phonebooths, looking concerned. "Yes! That's it," Erin encouraged, stopping next to one of those. "Call for help! Please, we have no time to waste, they could be going this instant!"
"Um, hello?" The man said into the phone. "Yes, 911? We have an insane girl--"
"No, no, she's quite all right. Just has a vivid imagination." A strong hand rested on her shoulder. Erin wrenched away, but the guard kept his grip and firmly began leading her back to the library's confines.
Oh, no...

Oh, no...

"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You little Trixie!!!" a older woman sat on a bench, waiting for the bus to stop. Her sandwich was gone, along with her money.
A moment ago there was a blue fur coat sitting on the bench, then it shifted into a blue teenage orphan pixie, spitting in her face and turning into a hedge hog--with the sandwich and money--running from her.
"You! Stop, whoa!!!!" a Hunter mythical policeman called out, chasing after the hedgehog, but he was getting away.
Finally, he stopped and saw a mad woman, a teen his age yelling the queen is going to die, then, seeing a Spriggian fairy bodyguard--who stood almost 14 feet tall--grabbing her, and having her come into the library.
He stopped, climbed through a small mouse hole and watched the guard tie up the girl.
Someone was in back of him, climbing through the hole.
"You scared me!" it was his annoying sister, who must have followed him. "we need to go. Money to collect,"
"In a moment, Trixie, in a moment!" he whispered.
"Whatcha doing?" she asked.
"Go away!" he yelled.
"You're not mom," she replied.
"Yea, you don't have one. I, oh no, I am sorry; don't--" her hedge hog boy ran away out the hole.
Just great, what do I do now? he thought.

Erin grimaced as the huge guard knotted the rope around her wrists. Her shoes were removed to tie her feet, and the guard gasped. She felt him inspecting her fingernails disapprovingly. "A baobhan sith changeling..." he grew quiet, but the rope tightened around her cloven hooves.
"What's that got to do with it?" Erin growled. "Let me go! You realize what this means? Destruction, and death, and the peace treaty with the fairies will be destroyed! It's the only stable thing we have left in this war!"
"The only stable thing they have left. You aren't one of them. You're one of us." the guard picked her up and carried her to a windowless room. He locked the door as he left. Erin scowled. "You're the Unseelie Court. I've read about you, and mark. My. Words: I will never be one of you. My race doesn't define who I am."
The guard smirked. "No, but your parents might." He vanished around the corner.
Erin's heart skipped. "What do you know about my parents?" she screamed after him. Her real parents? Were they hurt? Captives? Were they being forced to serve the Unseelie?
A squeak from the side of the room distracted her. She glanced over in time to see a blue hedgehog transform into a blue-skinned boy sitting on the table. "Heyo. You wanna get outta here? I'll help, but we've gotta watch out for my sister. She's a little...anti-assisting captives."

“Your…sister?” Erin was confused.
“Ok, that should do it,” a blue hedge hog shifted into a ten-year-old girl with blue skin and in ragged clothes.
“Uh? She’s one of you, too?” Erin asked.
“So, the guard is lost—he’s so lost—he’s heading into the forest.” A grin spread on her blue lips.
“Oh, how rude, I am Connor. My sis is--” he was interrupted by her.
“Trixie! At your service. And yes, I do live up to my name.” Her orange eyes winked at Erin, creeping her out.
She was like the little kids Erin used to babysit. Oh joy.
“You didn't lead him off the hill, did you?” Connor was worried.
“No, have you no faith in me? That was last time. Relax.” She smiled.
“That used to be a very good word, until you ruined it. Where is he going?” Connor wanted an answer. Frustrated, he ran his hands though his curly blonde hair.
“He won’t walk off a cliff, just a blackberry bush!” she laughed.
“Ah, Trix… now I know why you were named that!” He sighed, making a fist.
“You just now figured that out? And I thought you were older!” She walked into Erin's face.
“Um… hi?” Erin said.
“So! Very interesting to meet a fairy! Wow, look at her eyes, and her teeth, and--oh wow! Her nails! She looks like a monster, sort of, why is her skin so…not-blue?” she touched Erin's eyes.
“Um, I am right here, you could ask me, pesky!” Erin sighed in annoyance.
“Oh! I just had a brilliant idea, I should ask her!” Trix smiled.
“Oh!” Connor hit his forehead in frustration.
“Oh, and I am getting good at pixie-leading! Oh, sorry, I should slow down, fairy. So I have the power to control people and make an illusion, where they think they’re lost, when they’re really not. It’s kinda fun, thinking they’re in the middle of the forest, but they’re in their own living room.” She paused. ”am I speaking too fast for you? Can you hear me? …Concon, is it broken?” she asked.
“No , oh!!! “ Connor sighed.
It has a name,” Erin replied.
“Oh, so should I ask it if it has a name?” Trix asked.
“It’s Erin!” She wanted to hit her out of annoyance.
“I wonder what it’s name is, how ‘bout I call it ...” Trix paused.
“It’s Erin!! Oh!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Are you deaf? Oh my--really?!” She yelled.
“Oooh!! Now you have done it, guards are coming!” Connor yelled.
“Me?” Erin asked.
“Not you! You did that, Trix, why?” He questioned.
“Hey, I think a guard is coming,“ Trix smiled.
“She’s only ten, forgive her. Or don’t, sometimes I don’t. I need you to hold my hand, and you to Trix.” Connor explained.
“I think we should hold Concon's hand so he can go all shifty.” She smiled.
“That’s what I just... ok, hold on. Do you trust me?” Connor asked.
“Oh, me? Um, well, do I have a choice?” Erin asked back.
“Good point. Hold on, you might feel a little pain; here we go.” Erin grabbed Connor’s hand.
“Wait for me!” Trix grabbed his hand, and two guards walked in.
“Where did they?” one guard saw the chair had vanished--little did he know it didn’t.
“Where is the guard on duty?” the commander asked.
“He’s outside, or inside, wandering the hall. Saying he’s lost or something, keeps going back and forth!” He replied.
“Fools! Pixie-led, I should have known. Pixies, huh, Peskys!!!! This is treason! Find the girl now!“ the guards stormed out. “Her mom wants her alive! She is not a Changeling, she was hidden for a reason. If anything happens to her, then you don’t have a queen to rule over the throne, you understand me?” The commander ran out.
Connor, Trix and Erin reappeared.
“Whoa, my back… what happened, I am still tied up? I was hidden? What?” Erin asked.
“We shifted into rags on the floor, a shifting trick I picked up on the streets. After all, who is going to suspect three rags on the floor? Only thing was, people picked the rags up and threw them in the garbage, or mopped their floors--oh that hurt my back—anyway, we have to get you out of here, and fast.” Connor explained.
“Concon, we need to get it out of here and fast.” Trix smiled.
“Not again.” Connor sighed.

Trixie giggled at her brother's frustration. She twirled a lock of hair around one finger as she skipped around him. "Well, Concon, hurry up and do something!" she sang.
Connor gritted his teeth. Turning to the fairy--what was her name...Erin, that's it--he extended a hand. "We need to go now. Take my hand, we'll shift and you can get out of here."
"Why are you helping me?" Erin asked cautiously. "The pixies and fairies..."
"I know," Connor interrupted. "But to me, a hostage is a hostage. I'm just trying to do what's right."
Erin took his hand again and allowed him to shift them both into hedgehogs. They crawled through the escape hole and quickly shifted back to their normal forms. Erin's knees felt weak after being crunched down into such an unusual shape, but Connor assured her the feeling would pass once they started running.
"Wait...run?" Erin asked.
Connor nodded distractedly, his hair being pulled and mussed by his little sister's inquisitive fingers.
Erin sighed. "In that case...." she bent down and deftly untied her shoelaces. Trixie's orange eyes widened to the size of saucers when Erin pulled one cloven-hoofed foot out of her saddle-shoe.
"Concon, Concon!!" She squealed, "look at its feet!! The fairy has horse feet!!"
"Goat," Erin corrected, her voice pitching up. "I can't stand horses."
Connor stared at her warily. "Baobhan sith..." he whispered.
Erin stamped her foot impatiently. "Yes! Now cut it and help me get home before the sun rises!" She was relieved that darkness had fallen so early today. The sun always made her skin and eyes hurt so terribly.
Trixie poked her. "Other shoe off! I wanna see if it matches!"
Erin rolled her eyes and pulled off her other shoe. Tying the laces together, she held them as a purse and stared at Connor. He grinned. "Follow me." He slid into the royal garden. The guard sat dazedly on a bench, rubbing his head. He started when he saw the children. "Halt!" He cried.
Connor's eyes widened as he turned to Trixie.
"Should...I have left the illusion in place a little longer?"
"Trixieyy!!!" Connor bolted down a well-tended pathway. Erin ran after him. After a few long moments of running in the sweet-smelling shade, they hid behind a bush shaped like a cu sith to catch their breath.
"Boo."
They both jumped and whirled on their heels at the voice. Trixie laughed. "You two are awful jumpy! Relax, all I had to do was restart the illusion!"
Connor ran his fingers through his hair. Erin leaned back against the shrub and slowly rewatched the day's events in her mind. "Her mother the Queen..." she stood up sharply, causing Connor to rise in concern. "Hey, don't do that. This is still enemy territory. Come on, if you've caught your breath, we'll keep going now."
Erin dug in her heels before the two batty pixies could drag her off again. "Hold on a minute!!!" She sat down hard and twisted her fingers into her long hair. "That guard...said...my mom wanted me." She looked up as the siblings shifted uneasily from foot to foot. "Do you know what he was talking about?"

"How am I supposed to know everything?" Trixie shrugged.
"Don’t look at me," Connor replied.
"I am being serious! He said my…" Erin quoted.
"Your mom wants you. Hooray. We know." Trixie sighed.
"Trix, be nice," Connor yelled.
"I am Concon! …Not!" she laughed.
"Wa, Wa!" Erin heard a cry.
"Are too!" he yelled.
"Both of you shush, I heard something," Erin paused, listening in.
"What do you hear, tell me, tell me!" Trixie jumped like a rabbit in Erin's face.
"I think I hear a--" Erin paused.
"A what?! What you hear, what is it, what is it, tell me tell me!!" Trixie was full of energy, no doubt.
"A baby." She snuck out of the bushes.
"Come back here!"Connor called out.
"Wait for me, I’m coming!" Trixie turned into a hedgehog and ran out of the bushes.
"Oh no!" Connor turned into a hedgehog and went after his sister.
"Guys! Aw, it’s just a baby--whoa!" Erin watched as the baby's cry turned into a roar like a lion and its size grew bigger.
"It’s a brownie baby." Connor panicked.
"A what?" Erin asked.
"A brownie baby! Brownies, when angry, increase their size and strength! Uh oh." Connor paused.
"Aw, he just wants to be loved…where’s his mommy?" Erin asked.
The baby’s hands hit the ground and made it vibrate.
"Whoa!!!! Oh, come here, he’s just scared," Erin picked it up wrapped in a green robe.
"Don’t pick it up, huh?" Connor was confused.
"Looks like she just has the magic touch, Concon!"Trixie smiled.
"Trixie, not now." Connor sighed. He ran after his sister.
